Stayed over night at my mothers on Saturday. My baby son being the
nocturnal type had me up most of the night. Trying to keep awake
and getting baby jack to sleep I switched on the tv and began
channel hopping over the satellite channels. While hopping I came
across a german channel (initials BR I think) which was showing a
program called "Space Night". This consisted of images of space
travel (mainly the Shuttle) mixed with Koyyanisqatsi type sequences
of major cities of the world with a variety of relaxing classical
music, space music and new instrumental music. The program most
have gone on for at least four hours....

Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone know if it is a regular
program 'cos I'll get mum to video one as it helped both of us to
sleep :)

I don't know about this program, but have you seen the Landscape
Channel, available on (some) UK cable providers? This shows a
variety of landscape/seascape/spacescape/mindscape videos with
classical and new age music. I tried to persuade them to look
into more modern ambient (Namlook, Inoue etc). It is a while
since I had cable, but I hear it is still going. It is available
on some European satellite channels, apparently.

Specifically, I remember them playing Tim Wheater (White Lake?),
Tangerine Dream (Canyon Dreams), "Windbells" (was my favourite,
but can't remember who this was by (anyone help?)), "and more!"

Cable hasn't arrived in Salisbury yet but I'll check it out when it
does!

My friend Simon Champion has produced some music for a similar
format but he hasn't seen any broadcast as yet.

If these are from the ART of Landscape series then I might be able
to help as I've got their library listings at home. I'll look it
up over the weekend.

It probably is Bayrischer Rundfunk from Baviera. Any German netter out
there?
