Last night's Grammy Awards show enlightened the hope that there are
still people in this world actually listening to music. I was very happy
to see E.C. finally get his due respect. There were some good performances
and fine reflective views from peoples hearts. I thought k.d.lang was
great and 'Hot Pepers' spot was fun. Though Shandling was pretty dry at
times it was personally gratifying to see such commercial crap as Achky
what ever get totally snubbed. I guess being cute in tight jeans ain't
all it takes to make good music anymore. THANK GOD.

I have been a big E.C. Fan for about 10 years but I thought that the stuff
he won for was not as good as some other stuff last year, as even E.C.
admirably admitted. The truth is that E.C. should have been given a lifetime
achievement award instead, as I think honoring his accomplishments since the
'60s was the primary motivation behind the awards given him. Also
while I very much feel for E.C. and his grief over his son, I really
would hope that it wasn't part of the reason his music finally received
recognition. But I do think it was a contributing factor. While I've been a big
fan, I think E.C. is a bit overexposed these days.
