Legal status of backing tracks?

Just wondering if anyone knows how backing tracks that are made to be used to practice over, noodle to etc..stand in terms of copyright? I've got some stuff I dl'd that I have no idea who the band was and have come up with some nice lead work over it.If I recall, some of it may have been guitar player... more »
