I feel very inspired to give this a wide berth: I especially
like the menu item "Merch" on the rather clunky web site....

Perhaps "Merchandise" was a bit difficult?

... or maybe I woke up extra cynical today........... ?

But then, at..................

http://tinyurl.com/6llqa I found this.....

"Assembly Entertainment, an up and coming Entertainment
company (mainly an artist management firm), which works
in conjunction with the Law Offices of Marty O'Toole
(specializing in Entertainment Law) is looking for an web
design intern. Knowledge and/or familiarity with Flash,
HTML, Photoshop (Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Fireworks
a plus). Presently, it would be an unpaid internship and hours
would be flexible. There is a possibility of earning pay for
future projects. If you have any questions or if you're
interested please contact Seth Owen or Marty O'Toole,
Esq. at (310)-888-4040 / 4000 or
email Se...@AssemblyEntertainment.com . "

Which (I believe) translates as "We want someone to make us
a web-site for free"

(...and who calls themselves "Esq" these days???)

Well - now I'm feeling mega-cynical............... time for an
"up-and-coming" cup of tea ...............Phew! Back to
working on my own clunky web site....... unless someone
wants an "internship", that is...............

It's the way they're so specific about the style and genre I like!

Yes - and it left me feeling very un-perfect today...

"A perfect artist might combine the theatrics of Genesis
(with Peter Gabriel), the thrust of Led Zeppelin, the
mystique of Pink Floyd, the posh and pallor of dressed-up
Bowie, the surefire rhyme of The Clash, the downhome
sensibilities of Neil Young, the soaring possibilities of Yes,
the haunting transportation of Brian Eno or Daniel Lanois,
the crisp energy of Trevor Horn, the grounded whirling truth
of The Doors, the soaring soundmanship of The Smiths, the
cathartic wisdom of Peter Gabriel, the ear of Sasha or Tosca,
the lilting fullness of New Order and Depeche Mode, the
eeriness of Massive Attack, the dreamy incantations of
Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev, the captivating melodies
of Pinback, the rock sensibilities of Modest Mouse and
Pavement, and the expressive and dynamic instrumental
layering of Mogwai. "

.............is "soundmanship" a real word................??

Well - I'm off in search of cathartic wisdom.... and a pack of
cornflakes to go with it....................... Maybe I'll walk back
from the shops - if the "haunting transportation" is late..... (I
take it that does mean 'bus ??)

Doug,

They forgot to mention you also have to look like a God with a bit of the
devil in you ;-))

If I had all that going for me (according to their requirements) I'd be
looking for representation with a proven track record - not the first one
of those that post their advertisements and wants to NGs.

Clunky web sites always works for me ;-^
The caller can get in mine and get out fast - and that's what I look for in
other web sites :-)
