Country & Folk Songwriters,

"Country Sings Out for Child Protection" is looking for country/folk songs to
post at their website to help raise awareness about child abuse and related
issues.

They are also talking about putting together a CD - but not necessarily in the
immediate future.

Why am I posting this notice? Because I think it's a positive project - and I
want people to know about it.

Best,
Glen

Here's some information about the CD that they are talking about putting
together one day...

Ray Roberts, Jr. writes:
<snip>...My wife Leslie and I wrote "Not My Child" as a benefit song. We gave
it to the cause of Child Protection. We of course own the copyright and expect
mechanical and writer royalties to be paid through BMI. Before we put a
national benefit Child Protection CD out we will have all the copyright and
performing society ducks in a row for each of the writers. I will have to
remaster and screen this collection of 14-24 songs. The CD will be a net loss
unless we find a donation for the cost of production or each writer agrees to
have the cause zero the production cost for say 2-4 thousand discs. We may do
a short run and sell the discs on the internet to zero the cost. The final
goal is to place at least 2000 discs on radio stations with a built in mastered
AMBER ALERT that a station can drop their call letters and ID into. We can
then have everyone promote the disc in their backyard and sell on the MKOC
Child Protection Page. I have zero profit motive in this benefit cause. This
would be my third CD and my first CD for pure benefit. The stations might be
more prone to play the cuts if they are considered "public service" and
nonprofit. I see a cut from a song played with the AMBER ALERT nationwide just
like we play the nuclear alert test. The goal is to scare off child abducters
and to have our artists heard singing a non commercial song for a universal
cause by 2000. I promote my wife as an artist and book her internationally.
We donate about 20% of our time and music to benefit work. This production of
a national Child protection CD is 100% donation. All our time to this cause is
out of pocket and nonprofit. I have found that our nonprofit work gains more
media and radio play and is self sustaining with lots of volunteer
effort...<snip>
