The man had the world by its tail
**********
he has been up and low
he has seen the water go
he used to have golden voice
he used to hang with the good old boys
all those smoky, hazy bars
all that gold and big cigars
all those women and all those cars
now he is, a fallen star
the man had the world by its tail
they said he could not fail
i guess the pride got to him
it works every time
and he prays
to see the good old days
once again
in the ashes
Mercedes Bentz
house on the hills
high stakes poker
the man had it all
now it is all gone
oh sweet babylon
the man, the man, the man
had the world by its tail
and he prays
to see the good old days
once again
in the ashes
there goes the last
golden watch
the self portrait
for hundred bucks
no one wants it
no one needs
the man who had the world
by its tail
he goes on sale
now it is all gone
oh sweet babylon
the man, the man, the man
had the world by its tail
mercy, mercy
there is no mercy
its a tabloid
slaughter
the paparazzi shot him down
with a telephoto lens
and he prays
to see the good old days
once again
in the ashes
now it is all gone
oh sweet babylon
the man, the man, the man
had the world by its tail
now it is all gone
oh sweet babylon
the man, the man, the man
had the world by its tail
-
> now it is all gone
> oh sweet babylon
> the man, the man, the man
> had the world by its tail
You're getting stronger, Antti. You seem to pump out dark, haunting
riffs with ease. My favourite lines were " the self portrait
for hundred bucks / no one wants it, no one needs...mercy, mercy there
is no mercy / its a tabloid slaughter"
Suggestion: change "he has been up and low" to "he has been high and
low" and then you get to imply that he had a cocaine lifestyle.

it's OK
7/10
but to be a hit, needs a central point/hook/whatever to give that lift to
'vibrate in the memory'
(that last bit is poetry, Shelley)
Anyway season's greetings to you and yours
and to all r.m.m.ers
Merry Xmas
