We were looking for an 88 key weighted action digital piano for our
daughter, and just when she decided on the Yamaha P60, Yamaha
discontinued it and introduced the P70.

Although the P70 is being sold for $100 less than the P60 - which is
certainly a nice feature -we are concerned that Yamaha might have
"cheapened" the unit making it less desirable than competing instruments
(specifically the Korg SP-250) or a P60 - if we could find one. The
supply seems to be drying up pretty quickly.

Although some of the online stores say they have P70s in stock, there
are as yet no reviews on their websites. And yes I know a real piano
would be better than a digital, but she is a student living in a small
townhouse and will be moving soon so an acoustic piano is not an option
right now. Both she and I have played the P60 in a store and were quite
impressed with it. And it's quite a bargain, IMO.

Thanks,

Bill

As far as I can tell from reading it's the same product in a different
bottle. Added a continuous pedal vs. the former on-off pedal though,
and dropped the price from $750 to $600.

P140, 70.....what do you figure the replacement for the P90 will be
called?

Too bad the p70 doesn't have split bass.

Saw one at the local music store recently. Essentially a P60 with no
line output (only speakers/headphone), and less speaker power (6
instead of 8 watts output). Same keyboard action, which is nice.
