Nice Sonor Kit for sale - not mine
Saw this doing my usual online searching and found this in L.A. Someone local should jump on this, that kit is worth waaaay more than $825. Prolly twice that even. Too bad no snare. [link] I dunno if he'll ship. I can't buy more drums right now or I'd be all... more »

Supporting Composers
I believe that it was the late Dr. Neil Humfeld, former Trombone Professor at the University of Texas at Commerce, who had a requirement that all his students giving recitals needed to contribute in some way to expanding the repertoire of their instrument. They needed to do an arrangement of something currently not available for... more »

I'm pretty interested to this vintage jazz set by yamaha, [link] they tell it is an 8000 serie, and as far as I can remember, those lug in the 80s where mounted on the old tour custom serie. does someone here know something more about this old medium budget line by... more »

Low snare stands
Any recommendations? I use a deep snare when I gig out. My stands work but it's always just a bit too high. I don't need a high dollar model, just something functional and sturdy. Thanks.

RIP Jerry Fuchs
I know I haven't been around much lately. But I thought I'd stop by to post this: [link] [link] My favorite drummer, Jerry Fuchs, tragically passed away last night. He as born in Marietta, Georgia (my birth place) was a corner stone in the... more »

How much would you / could you hang on a kick drum?
Hey guys! How's things in here? I'm starting to get into alot of restaurant and small clubs with my blues trio, and the real estate up on stage (if we even get a stage) is becoming more and more hard to claim. So I'm trying to reduce my kit's footprint but still make it playable and still sound good.... more »

Snare Beds redux (-MIKE- or whomever)
Took a little trip to one of my student's homes last night to help them change out heads, tune etc. The kit was a Pacific with the satin stain finish. Heavy thickish shells, decent bearing edges, self tapping rods?, some were very hard to turn but not stripped, pain in the tush. Anyway, had trouble with the snare then inspected the snare bed, and... more »
