i have two acoustic kits but am looking for something i can play at
any hour and can record with. i don't need it to gig with and i don't
need on board sounds. i've never heard any on board sounds that can
complete with something like BFD platinum series anyway.

this would be a beginning e-kit that plays close to a real kit and
will be just used to trigger a vsti...most likey BFD.

at first i was looking into building my own e-kit. but i've heard from
more them one person this can be a pain unless you really want to
spend some time getting everything working properly together. then
roland released the td-4, which i liked, but i didn't like the idea of
paying for a module i didn't need.

the other day i went into guitar center and put this question to a
salesman. i'm always surprised when they come up with anything i
haven't considered. he said Alesis-USBPro. they have drum heads (over
dampeners), real looking cymbals, and just a trigger to midi
interface. plugs into a usb port. and it's 300 less the the roland
which uses one mesh pad, rubber toms, rubber cymbals, and for me uses
an unnecessary module.

has anyone hear used one? they didn't have it in stock.
