I want to be nice, no cymbal flinging for me -- our drummer might have
something so say about that, but I want to tell her to stop bringing
her horn. How do I do that without offending her or pissing her off?
Most of the time there is a sit-in situation it seems the sitter-in
only gets a two or three tunes unless they are greatly loved, bringing
a lot of paying friends/customers with them or are kinfolk of the owner
or manager.
You can tell her so when she gets on the stand, "What two tunes would
you like to do?" When the second tune is done tell the crowd she's
leaving the stand and have them applaud. If that doesn't really serve
to get her off the stand say quietly to her, "Hey, you're done. Move
along; show's over."
But if you want really to be a nice guy, you ought to tell her, kindly
and constructively that she plays sharp, her soloing is wanting in
skill and that she gets lost too often. Then you can recommend a local
sax teacher, Aebersold recordings, afew Lee Konitz or Gigi Gryce
recordings or whatever else you'd like to add.

Thank you and have a nice day.
Once we had a Sax player who couldn't play the blues. He'd only
listened to Ornette. So we fired him.
I just checked him out. As you can see, he's quite successful as a
musician.
