Hello. I am thinking of selling my 1986 PRS Custom 24. (Natural, short
heel, moons.) It has a very nice condition original case, and the color
catalog/booklet from that year. I made two modifications, both of which
are not permanent and easily reversed back to original. One is the
addition of a hip-shot drop-D tuner, which required no drilling or
alteration. The other is that I replaced the sweet switch with a tone
control. I still have all the original parts for the tuner and the sweet
switch. My question is, to get the best price, should I list the guitar
as is, and include the original parts, or should I return the guitar to
its original status myself?

TIA for your advice.

I have owned and eventually sold 5 PRS guitars.

The year you are describing still has some "mystic" to many, and part
of it has to do with the sweet switch.

With just about any guitar, you are almost always better off putting
it back original. Good luck with it.

did you have to drill to install the tone control?
good if not-if so-not so much...
a few years back paul reed smith himself was trying to buy up early
prs gtrs-so i heard.
i think those very early production models go for a hefty sum.
i mention 'production models' to differentiate from gtrs he handmade
in his shop very early on...
good luck!

Put it back in it's original state. Don't include your replacement
parts and don't even mention that you ever used them.
