I have a nut question. My classical guitar has a bone nut and with some strings the g string doesn't sit all the way in it- it sort of sits part in it and part on top of it. could this be contributing to wacky intonation in the lower frets on that string? and is it something I can rectify myself without doing screwing anything up?... more »

Plinky upper register in most guitars ... any suggestions?

Any help with the following would be appreciated .... Over the years I have struggled with getting notes on the high E string above the 12th fret or so to ring out really clearly. Think BB King stinging high note. I first noticed the problem on a mid 70's Les Paul. I don't recall it on my first L5S (trapeze tailpiece) which was stolen. My replacement L5S (stud tailpiece) with high (replacement) frets did have the problem. I had meticulous fret work done by two luthiers whose names you probably have heard). He bought it a year ago new from J. Hale.
It's a 2006 Sweet 16 and it's one of the nicest ones I've played. Aside from a small blemish on the back of the neck it is in like new condition. Heritage Sweet 16 with Natural Finish & Gold Fingered Tailpiece: Features 5 piece curly maple neck with multi white bound headstock and MOP inlays. Multi bound 25 1/2" scale ebony fingerboard with MOP split block inlays, 20 frets, radius is 12", width of neck at the nut is 1 11/16". Single cutaway body with carved spruce top, curly maple back and sides and single white bound f holes. Rim thickness is 2 3/4", body width 16" (of course!), with a body length of 20 1/4". One Heritage #3 jazz pickup mounted to the multi bound maple pickguard with pickguard mounted volume and tone controls. Gold plated hardware. Original hardshell case.... more »
