There is no "final" to internet noise. I'm sure someone else will
consider this a good place for wasting time and calling it "marketing"
in the future. The Bollywood crew was preceded by the knock-off purse
merchats, and before that (and after) athletic shoes peddlers.
In the case of the Bollywood stuff, they were marketing a site, so all
they needed to get was "traffic" not sales. They undoubtedly got some
curious traffic in the first week or two, but after that they got
nothing.
The amazing thing is that they all spew all this marketing, and in the
end they couldn't possible make any money on it compared to the spew.
It's like advertising diabetes drugs by stapling flyers to phone poles
near a college campus: Dumping their flyers out on the highway would
produce higher yield. It's pretty much the opposite of "directed
marketing".
