I just happened upon this DVD by curiosity about the title.
It's anything but Dueling though!

It's just a really nice duo gig by Bollenback and Hart, both great players working very well together, even when playing Alone together :-)

Paul is really somethin' else.

Paul is great! I played with him at the Hurricane Sandy bash we had for Roger Borys, and he blew us all away. My only defense is that I didn't know we were all going to be playing
that day, so I didn't practice.
His stuff with false harmonics is frightening!

Cool! :-) I was there with my wife that night, down in a bookstore in Hudson, NY (below Albany).
(Ha! I even think I caught a glimpse of us during some B-roll footage!)

Great show, two sets. SO much great playing from both Paul and John.

I was just at Roger's shop. He makes killer guitars. His necks are unreal. Each of his guitars I have played thus far has necks that feel and play like they are already ripened; as if the guitar is 50 years old. Most new axes are stiff as a mofo, but not his.

Yeah, people are always trying to put him down because he doesn't advertise, attend any guitar shows, or give free guitars to cun- I mean guitarists who ask him for one in exchange for publicity.
One time I told him one of his competitors claimed he sent out to someone else for his necks. He responded by going to the back of his shop and dragging out five necks he was working on!
I could tell you other stories, but let's just say the guitar making world is just as cut-throat as any other business.
Some cun- I mean guy in the early days of this group tried to fuck up Roger's rep, but Roger told me the real story behind that BS.
He doesn't want to be bothered by all the BS, and just wants to make ten guitars a year. I think they're great, but why listen to me?
Ask Sid Jacobs, Larry Koonse, Dave Koonse, Paul Bollenback, Bucky, Jimmy Wyble and Emily Remler's ghosts,Paul Meyers, Pat Kelly, etc...

I just got this from Netflix. Amazing DVD- both players are at the top of their game.Flawless playing. My only complaint is the use of digital delay on every tune by Hart. PB used it much less, and more tastefully.
While it was perfect for their more fusion stuff, it seemed like overkill on Cole Porter, Alone Together, But Not For Me (with GS changes)and the Monk tune.
If you dig these players, pick it up.
Next is P. Bernstein Live at Smoke. After over 25 years of cable, I've finally had it...
