Jimmy Wyble's solos on the Bob Wills stuff are simply wonderful. I
feel in general that the contributions of Jimmy, Eldon Shamblin, Jr.
Barnard and other Western Swing players have been overlooked by jazz
guitarists.

I spoke to Jimmy the other day and he tells me that he will be back
playing a little bit every day, so do not dispair - the master is
still among us and at work!

A personal hero of mine; I maintain a small collection of his teaching
methods and LPs, including some hand-written. I discovered Jimmy
through Spade Cooley recordings, and still regularly listen to those
tracks. Man, can he swing. I strive to emulate a little bit of his
aura - can't help but snap my fingers when Jimmy takes a solo!

I am very glad we (by we I mean Greg Bell and myself) got to see your
set at M.I. during the Joe Diorio benefit. With the beard shaved off it
could have been twenty or thirty years ago. I presume all that western
swing stuff is so far back in history now that it may be beyond your
reconsideration, especially considering how far you have evolved
harmonically and in theory since those days. Yet it still holds a great
validity for many of us here, as represented by some of the previous
posts in this thread. (I was not yet born when that music was originally
produced and yet it provides me with both fascination and joy)

I know that Deke wanted to ask you to play a 15 minute set at the Guitar
Geek Festival. I told him that IMO you would likely choose to decline
the offer. However, I would like to add my voice to the chorus that
