Butch Morris 1947 - 2013

I wasn't aware that Butch Morris passed away yesterday at the age of 65. If you're not familiar with Morris he was an important if fairly obscure figure in contemporary creative music, and even if you don't recognize his name you may still have heard of him via his concept and implementation of Conduction; which i personally believe to be a concept with potentially far reaching implications in world in flux where people who have never seen each other in real life collaborate creatively

I actually found out about his passing driving home tonight on NPR, and it reminded me of why i appreciate such a media outlet the way i do despite obvious biases and ideologies and target audiences---well-healed financial contributors---that aren't me,because you're simply not going to get this kind of news from any other major media source

RIP, and may others hopefully use your passing as a catalyst to find their way towards Black February or any of your recorded output as a testimony to the work you've done in the time you were here making your mark
