Case for ES175

Hello

I need a good case for my vintage (1953) Gibson ES175.

Ideally I would like an original Lifton case, but probably wouldn't
want to pay the sort of price I think they might be! I'm wondering if
anyone has any suggestions, maybe if there's a reissue case available.
I looked on the web without much luck.

I'm in the UK btw

Here is what MF carries. I think it is a TKL. Dunno if MF deals with
UK much, but should give you an idea anyway.

The brown Lifton cases I have seen used for 175's were ridiculously
high.

And the vintage Liftons don't even fit that snug.

"cases and more" has a TKL case that works, as does "WD music". I
wouldn't get a Lifton, I've heard on good authority that they put
pressure on the bridge, and can cause the top to sag if the guitar is
left in them for a long time...

If you want a TKL (AKA "Canadian Case") check Elderly Instruments for price.
Ive found them to be the cheapest (but it's been a while since I shopped
cases).

The TKL cases are widely available in the UK and are good quality and
have a fairly "traditional" look.

I found out that Gibson only supply cases with their guitars and will
not sell them separately, which is quite odd!

Hm that's not my experience.

I was seeking for an ES-350T case four years ago and just called a music
store in Atlanta GA. They ordert it by gibson custom shop at Kalamazoo.

At the end I got a TKL case with Gibson's Historic Collection Custom
Shop Logo on the front - 150 US$

It seems to me that Gibson has not been at Kalamazoo for many,many
years, it was sold to Heritage guitars.

Yes I had the same thought while talking with this guy, but at the end I
got my case (within some days).

I've been using a SKB molded case with some good luck for my 53' ES
175. the smaller sized for acoustic gtr fits just right ,the gtr. does
not move and there is enough top clearance without hitting the
bridge . you might be able to find it in your local music store to try
out first.

Thanks everyone.

I was keeping it in a Hiscox case, but that had to go when I sold the
guitar it came with (it seemed only right).

So I could get another Hiscox, they are good cases, but just thought I
might like something a bit retro and. tweedy looking. So at the moment
I'm veering towards the TKL 8916 TW

the "Comfort Grip" handles, as on that case, are very comfortable.
They don't dig into your hands like the solid plastic handles.

So I finally got a TKL case direct from the US, none of the suppliers
in the UK replied to me. TKL were very helpful:
