A radio broadcast of Tal with Eddie Costa and Vinnie Burke at The
Composer club, New York, 1956. Tal is unfortunately low in the mix but
the three tunes (the last, "And She Remembers Me" a rare original by
the guitarist) are worth checking out if only for Eddie Costa's
incredible playing:

Two different sets. Tal's on first, Marian's on second (and I don't

That was Definitely Eddie Costa.

I finally got the joke behind ASRM.; - )
Their chops were razor sharp at that time.
Although Tal was down in the mix, you could hear he was picking every
note, and not a bit of sloppiness. That last one had to be about 340-
without a drummer!
Eddie was smoking, as usual. He's still my favorite pianist to listen
to at medium to fast tempos. Both he and Tal's attack had that drive
that I never hear anymore.
They had to do condensed versions of those tunes, but it was great
regardless.
A pianist I used to work with met his wife at that club when Tal was
playing there- could have been that night.

I sat in with Jack Wilkins and Bucky Pizzarrelli when I was in NY
recently and met Tal's second wife, Michele. An amazing and beautiful
person. We chatted about Tal and she confirmed that he was just the
greatest and sweetest guy.

Yeah, she hangs out there a lot. I've told the story before about Tal
coming to see me at a club I was playing at. We went out for breakfast
afterwards, and Tal was very mellow- great guy. Him and DA told me
they thought I sounded like JW. Tal kept asking me how I souped up the
pickups on my Barney Kesssel guitar. ; - 0

I was a little disapointed after the first track, "They can't take that
away," since it was pretty lame compared to the one they recorded on
"The swinging guitar", but Costa and Tal are incredible on I remember april.

That seems like a pretty cool site, but you better have protection
because Microsoft Security Essentials said they were taking care of
some spyware and viruses while I was on it. I was referring to wilkins
from PMB's post.

I heard that Getz session a few years ago. He's at the top of his game
with great support from Dick Katz, Oscar Pettiford and Shelley Manne.
"Lover Come Back To Me" is superb.

When I grabbed my Tal Japanese CDs in the 1990s they were priced in
the range 2000Y to 3300Y so these reissues really are low price in
comparison.
