Apparently Joe Lovano's recent trip has gone very badly. He broke both of
his arms in two separate incidents while on tour in Spain.

Falling twice like that is really odd.
Is he unwell healthwise, do you think?

I first heard about this from someone who is friendly with Joe's wife. The
initial fall was while he was descending some stairs. The second fall
happened when he "feinted" while at lunch a couple days later. There is some
speculation about the medication he was initially given having possibly
contributed to the feinting incident.

I will always remember Lovano's generosity when I ran into him at a festival
a few years ago. I was there leading a student band and he was with the
Vanguard Orchestra. The kids recognized him immediately. They were dazzled
but were too shy to approach him. Lovano put everyone at ease by taking time
to talk with the kids and have his picture taken etc. It was a very gracious
gesture and something those kids will not forget soon. .....joe
