Regulations about the importation of various species of wood seem to have
been taken over by environmental whackos. .......joe

I disagree. Some of it has to do with country of origin rules, and
the legalities of exporting it to begin with. The problem is that
Gibby's CEO was on one the panels that was supposed to be watching
for, and preventing this sort of thing.

Opps!

Laws aren't really laws if the "environmental wackos" or "liberal
nut-jobs" or "terrorist-loving Democrats" can be applied to them.
Therefore they can be disregarded and accusers maybe tortured or
incarcerated for as long as suits the whim of the jailer.

Right we NEED elephants tusks and the tiger claws to make our STUFF!
They are dying and going extinct for a good cause: our idle vanity,
which to us is, well, just about everything to us. Oops--except our
love of Jesus, which is important too, cause we can use Him to accuse
our enemies of failing morality.

Look out Charlie, his value system likely puts the needs of "real
Americans" ahead of yours as well...

Lacey can just stick to wrestling and Lemur can stay in Peru. A
rosewood is just a rosewood, and although maybe not as posh as ebony,
is far less brittle sounding. I just wanna blow, man. Don't the Feds
have enough to do down by the border way?

A nice and tender whale tastes much better than chicken.

I'm assuming you're being facetious here, but ecologically speaking such
thinking is actually weird and twisted. Humans are not separate from
the ecosystem and do not have dominion over the things that swim, crawl
or fly. We think we do, but we die and the bacteria (and other things)
eat us. They win.

Well, it looks as though all you completely rational and sane people
who care nothing at all for the needs of any living creature except
for people will be(once again) getting exactly what you want. The new
government of Madagascar - which took over via a military coup last
year - has lifted the ban on logging rosewood from its national parks
as of January.

I'm not sure but I think the body count on those folks hereabouts is around 3.
