Acoustic virtuoso Frank Christian, dead at 60

Frank was my friend and my teacher. We met at the Lion's Head/Kettle of Fish (NYC bars). Over the years we traded many stories. Once, while teaching me Doc Watson's 'Windy and Warm,' he told me that as kid he opened for Doc at (I think) The Bottom Line. After his set, backstage, as he encountered Doc who was about to go on, Doc said to Frank, "Hey, you can play!" Forty years later he was still proud of that. Doc was right. Anyone who ever heard Frank play realized they were in the company of a rare talent.

So, here's to Frank, the parting glass.

So sorry to hear this. I only saw him perform a couple of times--great
player, charismatic performer. R.I.P.
