Sorry, Hank. May you always have your good memories.
Sound as if it was probably mercifully quick.
Remember the good times.

Very sorry to read this.

Hank,
For many of us, 2009 has been a very bad year with respect to losing
friends and family.. I know exactly how you feel and send my deepest

... A lie is terminological inexactitude.
Sorry about your friend, Hank.
If they found him on the ground he prolly didn't even have time to
call for help - small consolation, I know.

What a loss. Great graphics-ist. He did the covers to "Tres Hombres"
and "Fandango", right?
"Tres" is my "Abbey Road". "Fandango" still gives me cold chills.
Hang in there.

He did a lot of design work for them, including what at the time were
huge stage sets.
I figure pretty soon someone will put together an extensive list of his
credits. Moreso than any designer I've worked with Bill could always see
the big picture.
While many of the things of which he has written on this page will never
come to fruitition, this does give a glimpse:

Thanks, Les, and everyone. We all know this part of life ain't the most
fun part.

Huge stage sets that people still talk about.

He did fantastic work. He and whoever "hipgnosis" are are the
only people whose cover art actually caused me to be able to
remember their names. Well, and Cal Shenckel.
Texas used to mean something. Here's to hoping it will again.

My sympathies to you, Hank. It hurts losing friends, dammit...
especially those who've really touched your life and who've been
a blessing to have known.

I've been wearing my beard cut square for a while, and coincidentally,
I'm wearing my ZZTop tee shirt today.
As you say, great covers (I've just had a look at them all).
MJRB
Completely different approach, and budget, too, but he did a great job
for us.

He was also a genius (I don't say that casually) at web design, and
extremely advanced at DHTML. He eschewed Flash because he could write
code that loaded so much more efficiently and was ultimately much more
flexible.
I was at Eddie Wilson's house earlier this year with Bill, and I bitched
about Flash, at the time there being no current plug for the older Mac
OS I was running. Bill said something about Flash being unnecessary if
you knew how to write code. That afternoon he stopped by with a DVDR
disc of his demos, and we popped it into my old laptop. Anything an
image could do in the way of motion busted out all over my screen. To
say I was impressed is an understatement.
