So I crashed around on the Zoom site but never could determine exactly what the difference is between the H4 and the H4n. Anyone have the details or the URL to a comparison page?

Apparently, the H4n is a bit more rugged in its construction and has a larger screen, but the biggie is that it's possible to record 4 tracks simultaneously. That would be the two external input and the two built-in mics all together. The example I saw mentioned using the built-ins to capture the live sound of a performance (in stereo), and using the externals to simultaneously record the clean sound coming off the board. Thus four independent tracks.

Hot D#*M!!! I've been waiting for that. I want to be able to cover the guitar with the zoom and at the same time use an external voice mic(s) all in one pass. I think I need to torched my plastic, gotta go look for the lowest price now.

Thank you Alan and Raf. That is exactly what I have been waiting for also. Now if I can just get my kids to buy me that for Christmas.

Heh, heh, Oh, RIGHT! Danger Warning Will Robinson!! Tympanic Damage Alert! I have actually recorded a bunch of stuff but most is just for my own edification/satisfaction. I did a three song demo tape way back when too. Some of the studio'd stuff is on the various RMMGA disks, when the latest disk comes out I'm going to be in deep S#%t with the Texas Gathering group.<BG>
I really need the Zoom for getting some sound clips up on Guitarbench and onto my site. The Cheeze-Ball mics I have wern't cutting it for straight across non-tweaked sound bites.

Oh, for crying out loud, Bill, give yourself a break!!! You're ALLOWED to be bitchy and whiny and yell and scream. Sometimes it even helps to do just that.

I wasn't scolding. I can't imagine the agonies you're enduring, both physical and mental. I was merely encouraging you.

Oh, yeah, I'm sure that was everyone's first thought about you: "Why IS he whining???"

Well, if ye want to imagine what he's going thru, just close yer eyes and imagine having to listen to me play and sing continuously. That'll give ye some idea.

I also saw/heard a shootout on the web somewhere between the two and the H4n was substantially quieter. Worth the money prob but also considerably more expensive than the H4.
