I am feeling better but it is a long road back. I received an intense
period of treatments (drugs, breathing treatments etc) then they take an
x ray and wait for about a month in this situation to see what happens.
You can't really kill that stuff but the drugs interrupt the
reproduction cycle and they eventually die off, at least that is what is
supposed to happen. The lungs are much better but the upper chest a
throat are still infected so we are kind of back to where we were
before the bad stuff set in. There still is congestion in the upper
chest but I will see my Doctor at the end of the month after another x
ray to see where we are. If most of the pneumonia is gone we can the
use drugs to take care of the upper chest congestion and the minor sinus
infection. I get tired a lot quicker if I exert myself to much and the
cough is a bit hard to take at times but no high temps or other bad
symptoms.
My singing is difficult as I have a sore throat mostly from the
coughing. The funny thing is that with the upper chest being congested
I have this slight wheezing and chirping sound which tends to keep me awake.
However even though its a slow recovery it is getting better and
thanks to all for the good wishes, thoughts, and prayers. Some day God
willing I can make it to Texas if there is some fool from my part of the
Midwest that would want someone to split the cost and do some driving
but I won't hold my breath. (pun intended)
The new Baxendale 12 string long body called American Legend will be
done I Jan. 2010 I hope. Your support has been wonderful and I and my
two cats Eli & Irena thank you to

Hang in there, friend. I had a cold/upper respiratory ailment that lasted
about a week but then just wouldn't go away. It hung on for a good 3 weeks.
I know what you're saying about the singing. When I was at my worst, I
didn't even try to sing and then for about 2 weeks I sounded like a goose
whose voice was changing. It's not like I have a great voice to begin
with...

Anyway, hang in there and continue to get better.

Scaring me enough that I'm turning myself in to the Dr tomorrow. Kept
thinking it was beaten but it just won't leave.

Gee Mike I did not know:
1. They had geese in Oz
2. That there voice's can change. The weird thing is I have this little
wheeze and clicking when I breath and it keeps me awake at night. Going
to call y Doc tomorrow to give him an up date.

Just got back from the Doc and thing are looking better. There is one
cause of pneumonia that causes some 50%+ of all cases and this current
case was NOT one of them. So we are treating it a bit different and it
will take some time but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I just
have to take my meds, follow the Doctor's instructions and be patient (a
pun?) and things will be better.
Now if I could just find some fool from the Midwest who would not
mind having half his expenses paid to go to Texas I could attend at
least 1 gathering before I go and Bill could get to play my 76 F412 and
my new Baxendale;e long body 12 string American Legend guitars. Life
would then be perfect. thanks all for the kind words

Good news indeed, Larry! I'm planning on being there next October, if
they have to take me down on a stretcher...maybe we can get something
together before then.

Take care!

But in your case, I imagine pneumonia is not the cause... :)

That's Monday, around noon. Aside from just not wanting to leave, not
being ABLE to leave is always an issue...

I've had double pneumonia. Came down with it in Venice on a wedding
anniversary weekend (in November - funnily enough it's our anniversary
tomorrow).

I don't go out in the rain much any more. It was strange - had no idea
of anything being wrong with my lungs - no cough - just a complete
inability to stand up without my head spinning and falling over.

"He's no fun, he fell right over." But I'd heard that was your normal
behavior.

For the multitudes who asked, I'm feeling somewhat better, and had a
pneumonia shot, but still coughing. Doc says I will eventually
recover. Probably. Just a persistant chest cold. I'm thinking of
calling it "Lubec lung."
