OK, I know this is an acoustic guitar group, but my tele is semi-acoustic.

A new Tele with Bstring bender from Gene Parsons is about $2200

Altering my 1972 4-bolt semi-acoustic would cost $1200 plus shipping, ins,
etc..

My tele is not stock. I had humbuckers and a precision bridge put in around
1973.

Thoughts?

Regards,

Ty Ford

If you're gonna be tele-slingin' and want to give it a dose of steel
geetar, go for it. It's too late now to save that guitar anyway. <g>

I'd save myself the $1K and customize the non-stock a little more.
And I'd get a D-tuner for the low E like Waylon had!

If you really like the '72 I'd stick with it. The string bender
shouldn't change the sound to any perceptible degree.

On the other hand another guitar . . . . .

Will the semi-hollow design take a B-bender?

If it was just about money, see if you can get more than $1000 for your
tele. If you like the sound of your current tele, do the mod. If you are
wealthy, buy the Gene Parsons one and install the pickups of your choice.

I've been toying with the idea of a Duesenberg palm lever bridge for a while
now. That would run a bit cheaper then the B-bender, and more versatile.

I have one laying about (it was on my D15 but I took it off before I
sold it), and one still on my Washburn bass.

They come with different style tuner butons.

Hi, Ty, have you considered a Hipshot? Fits on your existing Tele with
no major modifications, can be set up to bend two strings, and about a
grand cheaper. You'll be bumping it with your hip rather than pulling
down on the neck, but the effect is much the same. They also make tuners
that can drop a whole step with the flick of a lever!
