It is not every day that the first serious musical treatment of a
major issue is released. Rarer still, that a world premiere will take
place in the Central Susquehanna Valley this Friday evening October 9,
2009 - 8:00 pm at the Weis Center, Bucknell University, Lewisburg.
Composer Bob Cohen of Montclair, NJ and Librettist Herschel Garfein of
Brooklyn, New York, have teamed up to create an original work for an
important topic: the stories of Alzheimer's patients and their
families. These original stories have never been covered anywhere, let
alone in a major choral work. That work was comissioned by the
Susqehanna Valley Chorale in celebration of its 40th anniversary.
Misters Cohen and Garfein will review a final dress rehearsal this
Thursday evening, from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Bucknell Weis
Center in Lewisburg. The press is invited to attend the dress
rehearsal.
