Hey there - what is the recommended way to finish off a fretless fingerboard?
It is "Jacopoxy" (marine epoxy coating), or something else? I'm getting to
that point on my latest project...

I have used Varathane Diamond finish, a very hard setting water based finish.

I like tung oil, but admit that if you plan on using roundwound strings
this isn't a good choice (unless you're willing to sand down the
fingerboard every couple of months).

I'm getting to the same point soon, I hope, and would rather not do the
resanding thing. however, I am biased towards the oil-finish. Can
anyone tell me what the differences in terms of tone are? If they're
much the same, my only objection to a hard finish would be asthetics...
