Opps! We had an economic blip didn't we! I got made redundant from my
Production Engineer job.

Now I'm looking for companies to write to/ email. I'm looking for companies
that MANUFACTURE in the counties around London UK. Since we share musical
interests, I may as well look for music/audio companies: amps, mixers,
turntables guitars etc - which is why I'm asking here.

Do you know any? I need A LOT of names!

You need to look up retailers I guess... around here(Nottingham) we
have Acadamy of Sound (used to be Carlsbro) I used to work for them in
the 90's....good times....but you need to put the feelers out around
your local area.

Its up to you to do some research - but your message is a bit
ambigious......even in this day and age you have to apply for a job
and go for a proper interview...even in a music shop....so put a CV
together mate - sell yourself........Looking at this NG late at night
aint gonna score you a new job............LL

Call me cynical if you like but it's one way to collect targets for
spam.

Rather a tenuous link from "Production Engineer" to retailers.

How tough does this have to Be??
"MANUFACTURE" means make, assemble, build ,construct...***not sell.***
In this particular quest, I mean amps, mixers, turntables, guitars.
SO: I must be the kind of PRODUCTION ENGINEER who would MANUFACTURE AUDIO
PRODUCTS.

I am a professional. Do you think I don't have a CV already? I am looking
for places to send it.
Sure you can look at product sites or Yellow Pages, but that just gets you
to the retailers or importers. It doesn't tell you WHERE they are made or
by whom.
e.g.
Soundcraft. One of the better sites - it actually had an address, but are
they MADE there? Some, but not as much as you think. Only the bigger
stuff. From the site you wouldn't know. It might be all imports from their
parent company Harman.

If the information was available I wouldn't ask.
Now do you know or not

He's from Nottingham. What use would he be to me if I'm looking in the SE?
Besides, LL always has a condescending answer. Its part of his smug nature.
We all love him for it :-)

So you're a professional - we could all say that - but when you're out
of work it doesn't guarantee you a free meal ticket.....had a look at
the website - I like the first track....we have a bit in common - I'm
also a bass player/songwriter - I like to think I can sing a bit too -
You're one step ahead of me though - my website has been in the making
since the beginning of the year!! These days I'm a humble lorry driver
by day not to mention father of 2 teenage kids - so time is
precious!! Still gigging once a week though - thats imperative!!

I'm sorry if I went down the retail angle......its the only aspect in
which I've had any real experience (apart from 30 years of
gigging!!).......but I hadn't seen the CV so it was just a shot in the
dark.

OK - a couple of suggestions.....Marshall Amplification.......they
still manufacture here I think......and Crucial (RAM) up in
Scotland.....not exactly London but from my experience as a consumer a
bloody well organised company..........LL

Ha Ha Ha......Smug nature!!! God almighty how little you know
me.....and I've never been condescending here.......yeah I'll stand up
for myself but - hey - I like it here........and yes I am from
Nottingham - whats wrong with that!!.........LL

Could you not search the net for manufacturers?! just a Yahoo! Groups
search may work?!

e.g.

http://uk.dir.yahoo.com/Regional/Countries/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Business_to_Business/Entertainment_and_Media_Production/Audio_and_Sound/Supplies_and_Equipment/Manufacturers/

And whats wrong with working in somewhere like Academy of sound? if
you want a job, you cant be fussy.. If you stick close to the music
industry you are more likely to hear of jobs, and local manufacturers.
