OK. It was recently mentioned to me that there is an organization called "The Process" which has members such as Genesis P-Orridge, Ogre & According to Bill Leeb, a guy named Bill Morrison who does the FLA & Puppy videos.
Could somebody here who knows of The Process please enlighten me about it and/or redirect me to a gopher or ftp site. I was under the impression that there was a directory at ftp.netcom.com, but I couldn't find it.
Take care...

ftp.netcom.com, in the pub/puppy directory, is a file explaining all about the concept behind Thee Process. It's about 100k or so, and there are also some sub-directories with additional member-submitted text files and graphics. Very interesting stuff!
A few years ago, Genesis P-Orridge split with Thee Temple Ov Psychick Youth (TOPY), a magick group that he co-founded after TG's breakup. Psychic TV was originally supposed to be the propaganda arm of TOPY.
G.P-O has started a new group called Thee Outer Process International (TOPI, get it?), which takes its name from The Process, a somewhat Satanic-oriented breakaway from The Church of Scientology. The Process allegedly had links with Charles Manson, though there's never been any hard evidence for this. G.P-O is using the name and the symbols of the original Process to capitalize on its notoriety. Somewhere along the line, he got Skinny Puppy involved.

Maybe I am to idealistic, but I have read all the info about the Process and it just sounds like a cult to me and I have a hard time accepting that SP would be so naive as to but into that bullshit. I have never been a fan of Genesis and perhaps this influences my view or maybe I just haven't read enough info.

simple. you see, puppy are just giving the place a sight to work out of. The Process is not anyone dominant philosophy idea. that is one of their main doctrines, that everyone should believe what they need to and interact like that. there are people from many different mindframs, religions, etc., on the process. no one dominates it

True, but it IS more than that. Genesis & Ogre are currently great friends, and SP are pretty intimately involved with the whole thing. The earlier post, i think, made too much of some ofthe shock value tactics, and ignored a lot of the (IMO) valid philosophy behind the network.

The philosophy behind the Process sounds reasonable and valid true enough. The problem I have witht he Process is the direct tie with Magick and why does sexual perversion push an individuals mental awareness? Genesis is a little out there for me personally. I have always suscribed to SP's way of viewing things not a third party cult's. If the Process is so losely connected then why bother? What does the Process give anyone? I know I am being judgemental here. I need more information on this subject, does anyone have firsthand knowledge of the Process? If so, feel free to E-mail me and correct me on my misconceptions. BTW, I have read all the information at the FTP site...

well, regardless of actions, genesis does not believe in sexual perversion as far as I can tell, nor does the TOPY. the Greybook(available somewhere or other on ftp.lysator.siu.edu or something like that) states the belief that the greatest spiritual awareness comes during orgasm. well, this is good for them, and I will let it rmain as such. I just don't feel like sending in a sample of my genetic material to the organization every month.

how aabout just a place. think of it as a social organization in a sense. you get together with acquaintances and discuss doctriens of this and that and theories of this and that. all under the moniker The Process. simple enough to me
There is also a mirror of The Process site at the CYBERDEN...
PS: You may have recently seen the Cyberden mentioned (including a screen shot of the GUI) in the Rolling Stone feature Cyber-Nation and featured in WIRED...Check um' out...

the only two cents i'll personally throw in is that it is a bit, uhhm perhaps innapropriate to call this "perversion". i am not sure what YOU consider perversion. tantrics ? homosexuality ? polyamory ? i've tried many things in my developement as a person, and in no way consider myself "perverted". i think that language may be too strong. certainly go your path, but removing the stigma that some sexual expression is necessarily perverse is part of the magick. and that self discovery can be very empowering...speaking from experience. while i never sought to join topy in all my proximity to it for a number of years, the magick is the point. it is an approach to self actualization, and sexual liberation is a principal key. my views are in no way any particualr endorsement or defense for the process, with whom i have no official connection, however, i suspect i travel a similar path. and this magick, this self re-creation has been through sexual, philosophical, emotional, and intellectual growth. i never truly understood the religion i was raised in until i left it and looked at it from a different view. many other aspects of my life have been similar, including my sexual self. the process has a number of important ideas from people trying to achieve those personal goals. i've never gotten the impression it was a "cult", but i have always gotten the impression it was not for everybody. but then, what is? later.
