Well it turns ot that on the new Skinny Puppy album (REmix Dys Temper) that
there was some type of an error at the factory.....It seems that instead of
hearing new remixed puppy there the cd is filled with gospel music...IT seems
that there are alot of these versions out there..3 different record stores in
town all had multiple copies of the defective disc......SO BEWARE!!!!!!!
Unless u want to praise the lord in the name of Puppy!!!!

It must be very interesting on the other side of this mix up. It might almost
be worth it if to pick up the other copy. Does anybody know who this gospel
band is?

A portion of the discs are also rumored to have the America Online start up
software on them...hilarious!!!

Hey I'm looking to experiment with "industrial" keyboard sounds ala Rob
Zombie, Ministry,
NIN, M. Manson, ya know the heavy popular stuff. My question is, what

keyboard/sampler
should I start with? Should it have 'analog-like' capabilities? I was

looking at the Nord Lead 2
& it first struck me as cool but there was only 100 presets and most of
them were cheese-ball...
Total cost has to be under 3 - $4000.

Thanks a ton for any info!

Christ...under $4000? You lucky sonofabitch. Get a good sampler
(Akai S2000 or Yamaha A3000) and a Roland JP-8000. The Roland has a
lot of blippy-analog-technoesque sounds as well as hard synth noises.
Using the sampler gives you the flexibility to experiment using
computer programs, drum loops, etc.

I'll say it again...you lucky sonofabitch.

Your best bet is to hire one of us to do it, then put cock-rock guitar
chords over top, and angsty lyrics to boot :) I mean Cmon, Zombie has
next to no electronics, Newer ministry has a smidgen more, but still,
unless you are talking about the old stuff, its definately NOT synth
driven, NIN, well, we may never know the equipment he uses, for all we
know its Richard D James locked in a closet these days. And Manson,
again, sure as hell isnt about the electronics, and Im pretty sure most
of that was done by people outside of the band. Sorry to flame you, but
FUCK! you have 3-4k to spend on equipment, whilst my ENTIRE STUDIO is at
the moment half that amount, and I am simultaniously trying to crank out
a demo AND save up for a good sampler. So, let me give you some advice,
but not the advice you asked for. Assuming you want to be a Rock Star,
on MTV, ect, forget about synths, instead focus your talents on looking
scary and 'singing', and maybe those chugga-chugga guitar chords, let
someone else in the band do all the synth stuff for you, cuz being the
keyboard player for a rock band will get you about as far as being the
drummer(unless you seriously think you could be the next NIN, but I
think there is only room for one of him). On the other hand, if you
actually LIKE to play synths(more than guitar or whatever), and money is
only a secondary concern in your musical endevours, I suggest you would
find making more purely electronic music more creative, more fun, and
ultimatly a whole lot more wide open than trying to be the next coal
chamber :)

Well, its not all bad, at least you used industrial in quotes :)

Um... Waldorf Microwave(classic), an Oberheim OBMx prototype, ARP 2600, four(!)
Nord Lead Classics, Minimoog.. and some pretty hefty Pro-Tools plug-ins I'm
sure.

Yeah I know what you mean, but being jealous of rich people does help with the
creative angst, yknow...

I would highly recommend the Nord Lead 2. The presets are just a starting
point, you can tweak the hell out of it until you find the sound you
want. You'll never run out of things to explore with that box. You could
grab one of those and an Akai S3000XL (another must-have) for 3 grand.
