keyboard/sampler
should I start with? Should it have 'analog-like' capabilities? I was
looking at the Nord Lead 2
& it first struck me as cool but there was only 100 presets and most of
them were cheese-ball...
Total cost has to be under 3 - $4000.
Thanks a ton for any info!

What kind of gear do the Spice Girls use?

Christ...under $4000? You lucky sonofabitch. Get a good sampler
(Akai S2000 or Yamaha A3000) and a Roland JP-8000. The Roland has a
lot of blippy-analog-technoesque sounds as well as hard synth noises.
Using the sampler gives you the flexibility to experiment using
computer programs, drum loops, etc.
I'll say it again...you lucky sonofabitch.

Well, its not all bad, at least you used industrial in quotes :)
I thought they used a CD player.
Um... Waldorf Microwave(classic), an Oberheim OBMx prototype, ARP 2600, four(!)
Nord Lead Classics, Minimoog.. and some pretty hefty Pro-Tools plug-ins I'm
sure.

Yeah I know what you mean, but being jealous of rich people does help with the
creative angst, yknow...

I would highly recommend the Nord Lead 2. The presets are just a starting
point, you can tweak the hell out of it until you find the sound you
want. You'll never run out of things to explore with that box. You could
grab one of those and an Akai S3000XL (another must-have) for 3 grand.
