I'm not sure that the Art of Noise exactly qualifies as "industrial", but maybe someone
out there on RMI knows this. Is Anne Dudley of AoN the same Anne Dudley who wrote the
musical score for "The Full Monty" (and won an Oscar for it last night)?

Yup. She has been doing soundtracks for years now, I think starting with Phil Collins
smash hit "buster". She's done a bunch of others as well.People also hire her regularily
to do string arrangements (pet shop boys, electronic etc.) I think they qualify as
industrial more than alot of trite that gets discussed here-especially thier"who's afraid
of?" album. There's a couple of good sites out there-can't think of them off hand though
with full discogs.

I'm sure someone here considers the Art of Noise to be influential. If
not, this is tenuous but Anne worked on a project with Jaz Coleman of
Killing Joke a few years back. Maybe she qualifies by association.

Yes, she is. She's had a long history of score work for film,
television and commercials since the Art of Noise. Film credits
include ‘The Crying Game’, ‘Buster’, ‘Felidae’, ‘The Sadness of Sex,
‘The Grotesque’, ‘Wilt‘, ‘The Pope Must Die‘, ‘Hollow Reed’ and,
obviously, ‘The Full Monty’

Yup, the same woman. Most of the original members of AoN have gone on to do
various score works for othe bands (with the exception of j.j.). Trevor Horne
did the music for "Toys" for instance.

The Seal of 'Fly Like An Eagle' and 'Kiss From A Rose'-fame?

No, the Seal of "I just got clubbed in the head by an Eskimo" fame. What
other Seal is there?

Y'all should definitely get the "Daft" CD. (which is
the "Who's Afraid Of The Art Of Noise" album plus
the "Into Battle With The Art Of Noise" EP plus
some remixes). Contains all the essential ZTT
era Art of Noise. I only wished it contained some
of the remixes of "Close (To The Edir)", but still
it is great. (The "Close (To The Edit)" video
is NOT to be missed.)

"In Visible Silence" is also pretty good, if for anything
"Legs", "Slip Of The Tongue", "Instruments Of Darkness",
"Chameleon's Dish"..... Things start to sound *really*
pretentious around here though. STILL, a song
as quirky, raw, and strange as"Legs" making it as a
Top 40 single is quite amazing.

Everything after that ("In No Sense? Nonsense!" and
"Below The Waste") is pretty crappy in an uppity
we-are-adorned-by-people-who-listen-to-National-Public
-Radio way.
