Since I'm one of those "swing both way" kinda guys, I figure I'll start this
thread to keep misogyny and sexism off the tongues of the non-Sutcliffe Jugend
and non-Funker Vogt fans.

Who would you like to have in your bed for a couple weeks to romp around with?

Actually, I'm pretty consistent, in that I post from the same e-mail address
every time. My newsreader (ok, AOL) doesn't display names as such so I tend to
forget that, for instance, "Ray Parker Jr." is how people notice me.

Virgo? I am one of those... my birthday is 4 days later, but they (my
weird hippie parents and such) tell me I'm on some sort of "cusp."

How exactly do you get to 95 lbs...? I'm about 3 inches taller than you
and I hovered around 130 as a vegan, but I gained 10 lbs. almost
immediately after I started eating cheese and all again.

Hmm, that may explain all the accuracy nonsense

How many women attend MIT? My friend goes to RPI in upstate NY, and I
think he can count the number of women at the school on one hand.

I am technically the first day of Virgo.

Despite the fact that I eat lots of meat, extremely fatty foods, vegetables,
cheese, fruit, everything, I am an incredibly thin person, thinner or
thicker depending on how much I eat. I tend to eat one good meal a day,
mainly because I'm not hungry often. Chalk it up to nature. I will admit
that I've been on the heavier side of the scale lately, so I may finally be
stabilizing.

I'm telling the truth. It helps that I just had a physical the other day,
though.

Perhaps.

My class at MIT will have 55% men, 45% women, or about 450 girls in the
class. It's approximately 1000 students, by the by, if you want to know
where I get my estimate. The Institute on the whole has about the same
percentages.

I don't know how many are actually *at* MIT, but working in Kendall Sq, I
can assure you that there are 2869724679234867246987X more women about
then there were in Troy.

Although, RPI *is* better than it used to be. When I was a frosh, my

I did (unfortuantely) for a little while. whooo.. was that interesting
gender proportions. There were 2 *days* out of my school week where i had
no women in my classes at all. Seriously. And with the courseload, you have
almost no time to socialise outside of campus. Poor Shervin.. you're not

It's okay, Fem, I'm going to be in a major with one of the highest
percentages of women (chemistry). A lot of the MIT girls I've seen have been
attractive (not to say there weren't *lots* of unattractive ones), and,
especially if I'm in a fraternity, which is likely, there'll be girls from
Harvard, Wellesley, Boston College, Boston University (lots of easy ones
here), etc. etc. I'll be in good shape, 'specially since a lot of girls I
know seem to find me attractive.

Where are all the girls who are attracted to geeks? I sure have met none. And,
looking at your pic on the RMI page, you are the only one on RMI who looks
geekier than I do.

(hmm. I'm taking this as a sincere comment on your part, not some lameass
manuever to have chicks write you and say "No, I like geeks!")

Whatever. I can't count on both hands the number of attractive women I know
who share the weakness for GeekAppeal. what? You dont think the lovely
jessica webster didnt totally dig being able to talk Dr. Who with Todd when
they met??
Intelligence factors heavily into attraction for many folks. i refuse to
beleive that whatever city you live in doesnt have similar minded women --
perhaps its a problem of the ones you approach? (When thinking about which
cutie to talk to at a show, go for the one with some gears turning behind
her eyes, ok? :)
You can have physical attraction as well as brains/personality.. I used to
be able to date/see cute ditzes, but I can't even stomach that anymore, if
I'm unable to have decent conversations. Eye candy is wonderful and all to
look at :), but no real substance there.

I honestly think it goes one of two ways as you get older: your requirements
in ppl in terms of dating gets narrower and narrower (as you wisen up and
get pickier and pickier) OR you lose all pickiness and start slutting it out
to anything that moves.

grr.. why the *fuck* do i keep adding to this thread?!

Stuff it, eschaton. Only six fraternities at MIT are worthless party houses.
I'm trying to rush the most eclectic (TEP) of the entire lot of
fraternities, not Deke. :P

> Where are all the girls who are attracted to geeks? I sure have

Well, that's not a very good picture, to be honest. When you're tired and
busy reveling, it's usually not a good time for a picture to be snapped.
That's the only time people take pictures of me, usually, and I have hardly
any pictures digitized as it is. All the ones I do have were taken by
friends when I wasn't expecting them. I am loads more attractive in person
and out of formal wear.

As to where all the girls "attracted to geeks" are, I don't think there
*are* girls attracted to geeks. I think the girls surrounding MIT and the
fraternities realize how fun and interesting and cool we all are and come to
see the guys. Just because you've got some geek complex doesn't mean that I
do. Pathetic.

~Yeah, jesus.. you want Geek Love? Try my Girlfreind of almost 6 years.. If
she didn't have a SERIOUS thing for geeks.. Err, at least ONE geek.. Then we
woulda been split years ago. It takes a certain kind of fetish to be able to

MIT must have weird fraternities. Industrial music isn't exactly the kind

Yes, the fraternities are either eccentric or just a bunch of smart guys

Obsession? No. But while the topic is being discussed, I believe
I am sure as HELL free to say what I think. I mean, its only
fair, after all, since the male population of rmi likes to talk
ALL the time about not getting laid, and "the hottest girl on
rmi" and the size of their dick.
So I think what I said isn't much to take out of proportion.
Also, to back up what I said earlier. Music is about 98% of my
life. I dont know what I'd be doing if not music. It makes me
happy. My one joy in life. So, obviously, I love to talk to
others about music. Especially the industrial genre. I've dated
other men before who had not a clue what I was talking about-
not just one, but many- and I don't like that. You may be
different, but I've always felt it's good to have a few basic
interests in common.

I think it's silly for a guy to only lust after rivetgirls, but with how
male dominated this scene is, a girl CAN quite easilly date nothing but an
endless stream of rivetguys, and I have known a few who have quite
sucessfully.

We don't argue about penis size because we have # of CD's to boast about
instead.

I have noticed this is true for me to a degree, though less so now than
a year ago. Simply put, music is my form of small talk...it's the only
form of idle conversation I feel comfortable talking with near total
strangers about. 'deep' subjects, like politics and religion don't cut
it, and silly inside jokes don't work until you know someone. Music is
a good way then to get to know someone better...one of the only ways I
know actually.

I completely agree... it seems like almost all the people I know/hear
who complain about not being in a good relationship are fishing in
very small ponds indeed. I'd much rather go out with someone with
different interests than mine, well, as long as they're mature and
open-minded. It's a great way to discover new things... I doubt I'd
love classical piano as much as I do if I hadn't dated someone
long ago who lived and breathed it! :)

I don't like talking too much about music to others. granted, i live in a
small town, so there are few who are interested in the same musics as i am.
that makes a large difference.

and if music makes up 98% of your life (which i believe is

Ah. I also live in a small town (about 30 minutes from Seattle)
presently <bad roommates..>- I had lived here for 16 years
previously, never had a friend to talk to, basically growing up
here sucked. And now that I'm back, what do I find? There are
little "spooky kids" running around. Scares me! What did I do??
But no, really.. even living in Seattle, meeting some people..
it's still _very_ hard to find people to talk to regarding
music.. correct me if I'm wrong (for those of you in seattle)
but the "scene" here generally evolves around more EBM music,
not so much the noisier stuff.. I don't know.. I think you're
right to a degree.. i think i have my hopes up.. no, not the
right word.. um, priorities too high set? like i'm only
intersted in talking to people who know exactly what i'm talking
about.. and i know that's wrong.. blah.. here i complain about
not having many friends yet i'm picky as all hell..

>and if music makes up 98% of your life (which i believe is
>disproportionately high), what is the other 2%, anyways?

well, the 98% was an exagerration.. but music is a VERY big part
of my life.. i think about it all the time; what chord
progression am i going to use? how could i possibly do an
industrial version of nick cave's "where the wild roses grow"? i
stress about what cd i'm going to put in next. i think it's a
bit unhealthy.. but it makes me happy, it fulfills me for now..
the other "2%"? i actually can't think of anything. it probably
has to do with music. promotion or something, i don't know..
how sad..

>wow. i feel so bad now. you've really hurt my feelings.

oh yea. that was totally my intent. yea. . .

>i have no problems with differences of opinions, erica. i just
don't
>understand yours, really.

Probably because I'm not even too sure what my own opinions are.
Currently, my world is very twisted.

For a guy who doesn't drink or do drugs you and your mates sure look out

Everyone at the party was drunk but me and 2 others. I did have a bit to
drink, but nothing much, just a few wine coolers and mixed drinks spaced out
over all of new years. They were all quite annoying that night though.

As for the coconut, it was an impulse buy...we were in a weird fruit buying
mood, and once they got the idea to open it, I didn't want them to do it, as
they were all really drunk, and would likely miss the coconut entirely. If
you hit the before button, you would find that we spend half the roll of
film showing the dissection of a 'pummello'

I dunno what you expect me to look like. Like I always said, I am on the
short side, a little fat, and have glasses. Those are all really, really
terrible pics of me though...then again, most of my friends came out looking
like shit as well. Normally, I look far more effiminate than that
though...I guess I was in a manly mood or something.

Aren't we all such geeks though? And such an elite party :)

Not for mars...or the inside of a volcano :)

Seriously, they were dyed military surplus...I bought them that way...they
were my favorite pants until the inner lining got a hole in the knee (the
outer lining had for years). Now they are my favorite shorts.

well, that's gonna be a problem since you did a 180 and swore that you
*weren't* a geek a little while ago. decide what you want to relate to with
a person. regardless, you're going to have to initiate conversation
eventually. but believe me, it'll be100 times easier after the first time.

Quit bastardizing the subjunctive, Jessica. It makes you look bad. :P

it's like that anywhere you go. believe me, as much as i like it, PN will
never will be THAT popular. keep in mind that you're talking about a
subculture of a subculture. nowhere you go will you find that talking about
PN is as normal as commenting on the weather. everywhere i've lived EBM was
the norm. and it always will be. i, personally have no qualms with this
since i love good ebm and electro. but if you talk to people, you may be
suprised how much they know about other stuff. don't be too quick to judge
people because they're wearing a Project Pitchfork t shirt.

If this is the case, then why do you scream your opinions and views from
the mountains for everyone to hear, only to back down when someone
challenges you? Maybe it's time for you to step back and start to just
lurk until you can get a firm grasp on where you really stand and who you
really are. You have nothing to prove to anyone on this newsgroup,
bitch*.

~We (Seventh Image) use some samples of me bashing a mike against my ear..
I've got enough metal hanging unceremoniously from them that the resultant
sounds were pretty 'industrial'. 'Specially run through a wack of effects
courtesy of Korg. Your dick would still be cooler, though.~
