Micro-Discovery / KALA PANI / Addl couplet - Hum Bekhudi Mein
==================================================

I recently saw the film on VCD and was much thrilled to find an
additional couplet for the ghazal: Hum Bekhudi Mein Tum Ko
.............

It was not part of the song (rendered by Rafi Saheb), but is from a
scence
where Mukri, who is a shair in the film hums the couplet. The wordings
are:

Kashti Palat Ke Halq-e-Tufaan Mein Aa Gayi
Maujon Ke Saath-Saath Kinare Chale Gaye

It is around 20 seconds long

I had mentioned this a few years ago on RMIM:
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.music.indian.misc/msg/0922d87c00c2fb30

It's good (nay, excellent) that you were able to at least
make out the words of one sh'er in the "original" Ghazal.
In the DVD I saw, this part was so bad that I couldn't
make sense of anything at all. Is your VCD clear enough
for you to try getting the rest of the words? Please?

Only these two lines were recited by: 'Madhosh' miyan (Mukri).
The sound is faded out slowly, so if one wants to copy this
couplet to a audio cassette, then have to adjust the recording
volume. I have copied it to an audio cassett and may try to
convert it to WAV format, if get time

Friends it is always nice to talk about this gem of a song, In addition
to the great Majrooh's lyric the musical composition of the song was a
graet factor in providing it eternity. Ever heard the original bangla
song in SD Burman's own voice, which was used for this Kala Pani. I
down loaded it, and though it is difficult to understand the words , it
is shear delight to compare the two. One gets to know how a great
maestro can transform the basic tune into a great hindi song.

I really love this song. I was once discussing it with one of my
friends and he mentioned that it was Jaidev (SDB's assistant and great
MD in his own right) who composed the tune for this song. Is this true?
Can anybody shed some light on this? Just want to know if this is true.

The song goes something like ''Ghoom bhulechi ...." written by Gauri
Prasanna Mazumdar, sung and composed by SDB, I cant understand the
words propelry, but the tune is absolutely familiar.

There used to be a website, featuring Bangla songs sung by SDB himself.
I have listened to all those songs on the website.
That site doesn't seem to be around OR its URL has changed.

Any help on this, please ?

Thanks.

Not sure if this is the site you are referring to.

http://rcvap.tripod.com/S_D_Burman_Bengali.html

It also has quite a few of his Hindi songs.

Thanks, Srinivas. This is a good site.
But, I was referring to another site, which had many more songs of SDB.
The URL was something like http://tinyurl.com/2geoj

Thanks.

I down loaded these songs from the site indianscreen.com It is a very
good site for old classics and they offer special down loads of great
singers/MDs etc from time to time. It was a SDB special around the time
of his birthday(or may be death ann., sorry that I am not sure) . Are
you looking for this site ?
