Dear all,
This is a researcher's (desperate PhD student's) request for any material anyone may have related to the following:
1. The song "pyaar kiya toh darna kya" from Mughal-e-Azam (Dir. K. Asif, 1960). This material may be in the form of radio recordings, advertisements, letters (including personal diaries and love letters where anyone may have referred to this song or other love songs from Hindi cinema), newspaper/ magazine articles, clippings, record covers, song booklets of the film, posters that referred to the song/ or its image/ or its music/ lyrics/ artists in particular.
2. Any personal memories or anecdotes that you would like to share of this song and the place that it has in your memories of the film, of love, of defiance or any other sentiment.
The material shall be treated with tremendous care and respect. Anonymity shall be given to all those who are sharing personal letters etc. The material shall be scanned (or copied as per permission of the owner) and used only for the purpose of academic research. As far as possible I would appreciate material in Hindi or English but I would also be happy to receive it in other languages.
