the site is http://members.xoom.com/arrahmansong
unless it has got changed to members.nbci as nita wrote.

but posting the lyrics and translations here itself so that other
members could give the corrections as it is a very meaningful and
complicated lyrics by gulzar.

regards.

It has.

The new URL is reflected in the address box. As far as the visitor is
concerned, the re-direction is transparent. The new URL is:

http://members.nbci.com/arrahmansong/

This can have a disadvantage. Regular visitors may not know the URL is
changed and continue to use the Xoom URL. I suspect the re-direction is
not a permanent feature. It may help if you explicitly mentioned the
new URL on your page so that visitors know that they have to update
their bookmarks.

One piece of advice: Clicking on Mubeen's ARR site opens it up within a
frame on your web site. According to Internet laws, you are guilty of
copyright infringement, unless you happen to own the other site, too. I
suggest you ensure that links to other websites are such they either
open in the parent window or in a new window, not in a frame.

BTW, frames do not sit well with Search engines. They have problems
indexing pages with frames in them. You may want to look into that,
too.

Hello Rawat, great job on the translation. Just a couple of
clarifications / insight on my part.

>tabeez bana ke pahnoo use
>(I will treat her like my talisman and wear)
>(tabeez: a sacred black thread with supernaturally processed metal block
>or stone having protective powers)

A taaveez is indeed a sacred black thread with the metal block, but
generally the block is a box which contains certain aayat(s) of power
inside it. This is not always the case, as sometimes it IS just a thread,
and/or a thread with a piece of metal, which has been blessed by some
spiritual person.

>aayat ki tarah mil jaaye kahin
>(if i find her somewhere like a divine sentence from holy Quraan-paak)

In light of the clarification of the 'taaveez' I'm sure this will make
sense. Grammatically, it should be "Taaveez bana ke pehnoo use; aayat
kit tarah, (agar) mil jaaye kahin." The 'agar' is implied, of course.
So really, what he's saying is that he would treat her in as high a
regard as an aayat from Quraan-paak. Trying to make a point of his
reverence for her, albeit a bit blasphemic to some.

>yaar hai vo eemaa ki tarah
>(that friend of mine is the sum-total of my integrity)

Eemaa.n (faith, spiritual belief, etc...) Again making an allusion to
his reverence for her. And it makes sense with his later mentioning that she
is his 'qalma' as well.

>mera nagma vahi mera qalma vahi
>(she is my song, she is (as pious for me as) the sacred chant of qalma)

Not as sacred as the qalma, he's saying she IS his qalma. Much stronger
meaning. :)

>main uske roop ka shaidaai
>(i am attracted to her beauty)

I think the best meaning of "Shaidaai" would probably be zealot. Again,
makes sense because it stays with this spiritual theme he's got going.

>vo dhoop chhaanv sa harjaai
>(she is innocent and energetic hence she reaches everywhere to everyone
>like the sunlight or the shadow)

"harjaai' means either someone who is unfaithful, or someone who
is fleeting. Good way to refer to dhoop and chaanv, as neither one
will stick with you when you need it.
