I was listening to the song today and checked giitaayan to see if the
lyrics were there. They were, but contained several missing words and
some mistakes. Instead of making inline corrections I decided to post
the complete song with all corrections. Any other corrections welcome,
in case there still are some errors.

Interesting corrections. I reheard the song with a pair of headphones
to be sure I wasn't writing from memory. Here are the places where I
differ:

This is an interesting variant, and makes sense in context. But the
first word is very clearly pronounced as vidhanaa or vighanaa. I
definitely do not hear the "d" sound. Also I hear "aisii" very
clearly.

> kal kii sun kal na pare vikal man pukaare

Should not pare be "pa.De" ?

> praaN hare kaan pare muralii dhun aalii

I've always heard and interpreted this as:

praaN hare taan kare/pa.De ...

However the recording is a bit muffled at "taan/kaan" and I can't bet
on it.

> mohan man laag sakhii mohan banamaalii

This seems more correct in context than what I have, but again here,
in lieu of "laag", "naam" is heard very clearly. Can you check ?

Thanks to both of you (Balaji and Arunabha) for bringing up this song:
I hadn't heard it in ages and it was pure bliss! Listened to it
carefully with headphones and am very sure of the assertions I am
making below.

It is "vidhanaa". Platts tells me it is a synonym for Brahma, so that
makes perfect sense. And I too hear "aisii".

Sometime back, an RMIMer took me to task for saying that the ".D"
sound was the correct representation even if singer/speaker was saying
"r": he said that in some parts of the North, "r" *is* the correct
sound in this context and should be written as such. Will need to dig
up the relevant post.

It is "kaan pare".

It is "laag".

Again, thanks for reminding me of this song: am listening to it for
the fourth time as I type this!

One line that I missed:

kaise rahe praaN rahe joban praaN pyaare

Shouldn't this be : " kaise .. rahe jab na praaN pyaare" (as in, how
can life remain when life's love itself does not )

Thanks to both of you for the corrections. My copy was not clear in
places. I knew the "dikhalaa.." line felt wrong. Abhay's correction to
that is spot on. Recall the prelude to the "tarana" a year later by Lata
in Anil Biswas' Pardesi

sajan sakaare ....
o vidhanaa aisii karo, ki bhor kabahu.N na hoy
naa dir diim ....

even the sentiment is identical.

Based on the above, however, that would seem to be the only correction
to the lyrics posted by me. If there are no further corrections, I will
forward them to Vinay in a day or two.

It is "jab na" and not "joban".
