Namaskar & happy Deepawali to all!

Could you please guide me where I can get or get to listen recordings
of Pt. Sadashivbuwa Jadhav? I am not aware if there are any commercial
recordings available.

I was fortunate to hear to him some 25 yrs back in a private Mehfil!
IMHO he sounded just like Abdul Karim Khansaheb.......

I was not fortunate enough to listen to Pt. Feroze Dastur in his
prime, but to my ears Sadashivbuwa's 'Gopala Meri Karuna......' was
better compared to a video of Pt. Dastur, which is obviously past his
prime.

I would love to hear your opinions!

Thanks in advance!

Dear Umeshji,

I have not heard or heard of Sadashivbuwa Jadhav. Can you please share
some details about him.

Some 10 years ago, I had picked up a cassette of Pt R V Jadhav. I had
not heard of him either. The sleeve notes of the cassette say that he
was a disciple of Ustad Abdul Karim Khan.

I liked his style of singing a lot. Pristine Kirana gayaki.

Here is a link to the recordings of the cassette:

Is he relared to Sadashivbuwa?

Some details about both will be highly appreciated.

Regards.

Did you find out who the singer of the Gaud Malhar in that folder
actually is? It does not appear to be Narayanrao.

Let us see. In 1957 Narayanrao was only 55. I heard him in 1970,
give or take a year, and he had more damsaans (could hold his notes
longer) even then than the singer in this recording has.
Mislabellings do happen, you know. For example, in your R V Jadhav
tracks, the "patdeep" and "multani" are clearly switched.

Dear Archismanji,

Thanks for sharing the Shri R. V. Jadhav's recording. His sur lagav &
Uhtan of Taan does remind of Abdul Karim Khansaheb. I am not so sure
of him learning from Khansaheb, I will check from Khansaheb's
biography by Kapilashwaribua. It is quite detailed & may have
reference to Shri R. V. Jadhav. In the same breath I am not aware if
the two are related. Though I will check the same, once I will go to
Pune next month.

OTOH as far as I know Pt. Sadashivbua learnt from Smt. Banubai (Mrs.
Abdul Karim Khansaheb, his disciple before marriage) and lived in
Pune. He did perform local concerts and may be senior RMIC members
from Pune can add some more info. I will share a his recording for
sure, if I get hold of it. He was a very humble man and probably for
same reason may not have had his share of limelight if I may use the
term.

Best Regards,
Umesh

Thank you for pointing out the mis-labeling in the files of R V
Jadhav. My oversight.

I have uploaded the kafi hori & the Tulsidas bhajan of Pt Narayanrao
Vyas from the same CD here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=e19d08adb11532ae1f8e0fff488e27e0e04e75f6e8ebb871

Definitely sounds like Narayanrao Vyas to me. Do let me know if you
have any other thoughts.

Thank you very much for your views.

Regards.

PS. In the same folder, I have also uploaded some songs of Jal
Balaporia from a cassette that I had. The quality is not that good.
Apologies in advance:

And a AIR release of Sardarbai Karadgekar & Sharadchandra Arolkar:
