did niggas just grow out of that stage of banging (i was a FOLK to tell you the truth)? i can
remember hearing about a drive by shooting about every other nite. i personally dont fuck with the
shit no more, nor do i promote it or throw up the pitchfork like i did back in the day, but i do
remember where i'm from and i show love to the niggas that made the same mistake i made. its like no
one even treat bangin like they did when i was into it. we used to shoot at niggas and stab niggas
after b-ball games and shit. the D-home was our 2nd home. i thank God i made it outta that hell. i
know i aint the only one in this NG that used to claim sets. yall holla at me and tell me somma
ya'll's stories and what ya'll used to (or still) throw up.

I think instead of dudes trippin on other gangs, it's more love. Like you
just have a family, but don't hate on the other families, you know...I think
music helped a lot, I mean Snoop got two crips from rival gangs to form a
group and go platinum...

I mean the only ones really set trippin anymore are mostly hispanics, over
here anyways...I mean there are exceptions...

the violence has definitely calmed down some but at the same time i never
ran with a gang so a lot of shit going on today isn't part of my life
anymore. i used to kick it with fools from rival sets simply cause they were
my friends before they even got into that shit. it's not like i was gonna
stop speaking to anyone even if i have been caught in the middle of
unpleasant situations. i always tried to distance myself from the b.s. when
possible though...especially since mf'ers always trippin over dumb shit like
you giving them an evil look or something. just crazy shit people will do
over nothing.

folks are crips n some places n bloods in others . I always found that
odd, no disrepect to you though.

I don't know why you would want to tell anyone on here where you were
from. I never was from anywhere realy, I just get labels. I'm from the
jungles section of l.a., and now around another pt of chrenshaw that's
all bloods, but they respect me. I've never had issues with bloods
except Swans. My peoples used to live in a swan neighborhood when I was
a kid, and my mothers side didn't want me to go outside or anything,
because there was always DRAMA. All thoughs fools are dead now, and
even though we wasn't cool I miss them.

I feel you though when I was little gangs was big. It was like meeting
the president when I met some of the people I met when I was younger.
The older I got, and the more time I spent out in the south bay the
more all the negative shit {gangs} didn't interest me. I know gangs
still exist though some cold shit happen to my family about two months
ago. My cousin was getting burried at the Inglewood cemetary, and some
bloods came up there to tell us we had a certain amount of time to
leave. It was about to be on, but in respect for my cousin everyone
swallowed their pride and left that alone. I got family now that's
bloods, and I grew up in alot of blood neighborhoods so I can't be a
hater.

I'm really happy my cousins who are younger don't look at gangs, and
aren't as influenced by gangs as I was. I think it's something you grow
out of, and you know what I want alot out of myself I can't do in a
gang. I'm gonna keep it real I have a preference in colors (duh) but I
can get along, and have love for everyone.

I remember when there was all kinds of fuckin' gangs. I still remember
the old school gangs where I was from, The Astoria Warriors, B.M.P.
(Black Mob Posse), N.Y.P. (NewYork Posse), P.I.C. (Partners in Crime),
K.I.N.G.S. (Killin' Innocent Niggas Gangsta Style), T.A.O. (Together As
One), N.H. (Natural High), F.U.A. (From Up Above), T.O.A. (Taggers of
Art), The G-Boys, F.A.T. (Fat Ass Taggers), The Goodfellas. Back then it
was like you had to be in a gang, and all of them were connected to a
bigger gang, like Latin Kings or whatever. But it wasn't like "Yo, these
niggas are over at this party, let's go shoot 'em!", it was more like
"Yo, let's go vamp these niggas pieces" or "Let's go bomb their
territory". And when it came down to it niggas usually would brawl but
if guns were drawn it was a surprise, it was mostly the older cats
clappin' each other. Call me crazy, but that whole blood and crip shit
never phased me. I never had any fear in my heart for any of them cats,
they seem too fraudulent or somethin', like some new jack gangsters with
a shaky ass pistol hand and a small ass Deringer. 1.

Actually, with the exception of guys like Monster Kody Scott and a small
percentage of other "Bingmonsters" that make up the gang population, you could
easily bitchslap most of these guys if they didn't carry. Aside from most of
them not being too swift mentally, a lot of them don't really have any "heart"
either.

I guess I am too old school, but I always felt that a gun was a way to free
yourself from literally having blood on your hands. A knife, while still
vaginal to me.....at least you're confronting the victim. I feel most of these
guys, without a weapon or 10 guys standing behind them; are straight punks. I
mean, look at Snoop. LMAO! Dude weighs 110 lbs in a wet Shearling with a brick
in each pocket. He BETTER have a gun.
Yeah. Real tough guys. They have to get all high off dust and sherm just to
shoot someone from a distance. Faggots.

I'd say gangs are still alive and well. With the "war on drugs" raging,
I'd say the news stories have switched to dealing with that subject. In
the early '80s, I lived in Chicago. I presume by throwing up the
pitchfork, you ride Black Gangster Disciples. Me personally, my mama was
the baddest gang-member---no way did I cross her. She always said, "go
on out there if you want to---let them raise you". And being in a gang
is just flat-out stupid, this color, that set, "what you ride?" What the
%#@! A friend of mine had to sit out freshman year in Chicago because if
he didn't join the Disciples at Senn H.S., they said that they were
"doin' 'em". Everything gets tired, sooner or later you have to be tired
of killing people because of a colored bandana. And what's up with the
"brotherhood" if you decide a gang's not for you? You're in them for
life---or else. This "thugged out" phase of Hip Hop is just as
ridiculously stupid as the gang mess is. The "real" gang is
headquartered at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C. Others are
named, Gambino, Merlino, Gotti, and Kennedy. Let's see if the V/L,
Disciples, Bloods, & Crips try to move them from their territory. Hmmm.
PEACE!

But you can't sleep on someone just 'cause of their size. There's little
dudes that'll knuckle you the fuck down. Besides, how can you say
somethin' like "Yeah, he's a pussy, he has to shoot people", like any
pussy ass nigga can kill someone. All that shit niggas talk, but if that
little pussy ass kid you talk shit about put the toast in your face then
who'd be the bitch? I always preferred to shoot the fair one 'cause I
knew I'd win, but I didn't blame any kid that couldn't fight and said
"Fuck that, I'm just gonna shoot your ass", 'cause if I was a dude that
couldn't fight I probably would be like that too.

LOL. OK, I'll give you that to a degree. But if you're a dude that can't fight,
you really have no business shooting off your fucking mouth or riffing with
people.

As for the burner in the face: I had it pulled on me by I kid I knew that got
mad at me, but I knew the guy. I couldn't rush him, but I still wanted to
pummel him. I asked him to put the gun down and go "1-D". Of course, he didn't.
But I didn't get shot either. I guess was a little little unique in that
respect back in those days. You're still a pussy to me if you pull a gun. I
don't care. I'm just the cowboy idiot type to seriously condider trying to take
that shit from someone if they're pressed on me too. No lie. Fuck it.

The kid. Pulling a gun for any other reason other than self-defense (read:
protect yourself or a loved one from death/serious physical injury) is dumb,
cowardly, idiotic, moronic etc.

Pulling a gun gives you like a false sense of bravery. You look like a little
punk if you do that sh*t. Like, "What? That nigga dissed me? Thats the word,
I'm a about to release a cap in his ass". What kind of sh*t is that? That goes
for all that blood'n'crips nonsense as well.

There should be better gun control laws, its too easy for people like "that
dude" in GCs post to get guns.

I've rolled with three different Crip set and would be hard pressed to
call any of them a pussy. Shit these cats were never afraid to straight
double up on the solo a lay a cat out. Well actually the first crew I
rolled with was a lil' suspect but the last two were straight hard core.
I don't mean set tripping but it wasn't hard for a simple case of
disrespect to turn into an all out brawl.
It wasn't really about fighting though it was about "family". They
were cats that for one reason or another I thought of as family. I never
got into the Crips because I wanted protection or because I had too I
done it for the love of the peeps. For me gang life was more about
rollin' than it was about blasting. I'm just glad that around my way
cats got off the blasting tip when the mid to late ninties rolled
around.

But shootin' somebody isn't always just because you're scared to shoot
the fair one. I'm all for one on one's, I grew up on that shit, matter
of fact I can almost say I LIKE fightin' one on one, if it weren't for
the repurcussions I'd probably pick fights with dumb ass niggas that go
around startin' trouble with herb niggas. Anyway, like I was sayin'
though, I've shot at someone before, and it wasn't 'cause I couldn't
beat his ass, 'cause I had beat him down before, but it was to prove a
point that if you don't calm down I'm gonna leave you permanently calm.
I'm not a thug, I didn't want to shoot the kid, I missed him on purpose,
but I'll tell you what, havin' a couple slugs whizz past your ear sends
a pretty strong message. Another reason people get shot is because
someone wants to kill their ass. Sometimes you might not want to just
fuck somebody up in a one on one, sometimes they violate so bad that you
gotta kill 'em. Now, I never killed anyone, and I'm glad I can say that,
but I know people that got killed for justifiable reasons. I know some
people think there's no way murder can be justified, but I think there's
plenty of ways.

Many are dead. The ringleader, Aaron so-and-so, is in federal prison
along with his second-in-command. I have a friend at work who was an
associate with one of their "runners". They played ball over at 58th &

a book dealing with them called, "The Family".

JBM. I gotta pick that up now. I used to know folk who were mad shook
