hurry up quick.
"You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him". I haven't heard
it as of yet, however, do we have to get into how live the man is?
Babygrande just signed him, the album "Middle Passage" will drop
sometime in 2005, a grand tour is expected upon release. Did I say how
everyone knows the man is live? You ain't seen nothin' yet, wait until
the new Paris CD comes out. I always have to mention how by track 7 of
"Revolutionary: vol 2", I kissed the CD case while I clinched my
fist---dude is fire.
Dude I think we've all noticed how much you like him!
I've always liked him but I think production has let him down in the past,
it's always been ok but just not matching his vocal presence, 'Bin Laden'
goes someway to fixing that 'problem'...
The Babygrande album should be off the hook... but... didn't he have some
sort of deal with Uncle Howie? What happend with that or was it just a
distribution deal for 'Industrial Revolution'? A couple of Necro produced
tracks wouldn't have been bad to hear...

It's a gang of kids that like him here.

I know he's down with a kid named Southpaw and he's nice. I didn't think
production was his problem. On that note though, I couldn't see
Technique and the Neptunes, if that's what you mean by production. To
me, someone with his delivery needs a grimy sound, not one that's more
pop. Would he become "more mainstream" with just their names attached to
him, maybe, but I don't think that's his objective.

Agreed, they're on the come up. I'm not sure about the Uncle Howie deal,
Non Phixion just messes with him. Necro, not the Neptunes, most
definitely would've been a good look for Technique. A simple beat like
Sabac Red's "P.O.Ws." would've been heat with any lyrics dropped by
Immortal Technique.
Yep he's definitely gaining a good fanbase, everyone I know who listens to
Hip-Hop over here in the UK has nothing but good to say about him... we're
not exactly a good representation of the general Hip-Hop community over here
but still...

I'm most definitely NOT talking about the Neptunes or Lil Jon or any of
that... I agree with your statements about what he needs... I think he's had
production that's been good but not quite good enough for him... I'm not
saying it's bad, it just needs a little something extra... just my opinion.

He had some sort of deal with them, if I remember right... he was on their
site on the roster of artists on the label anyway... who knows what happend
or what the deal actually was. There could still be some Necro production on
the new LP. It doesn't really matter anyway, the new album is gonna drop, a
lot of people are gonna check it out and that can only be a good thing.
I'm of the opinion, like many US stars that travel abroad, that the
international fans are "much more Hip Hop" than the present generation
of US fans themselves. I think saturation breed contempt and
expectation. Having been in the Navy and seeing overseas kids myself at
clubs, I know this to be true. The UK knows their Hip Hop as good as
any. I have two words for you---"Unsung Heroes".
<<I'm most definitely NOT talking about the Neptunes or Lil Jon or any

Point made. I believe that marketing and label politics are(were) his
problem. Heat is heat is heat and he can't be denied in that regard. I
must admit that I'm selfish in some regards as well, MCs like him or
Sabac Red are better than the mainstream deserves quite frankly as I
don't believe the kids would go out and support them the way they're now
doing Lil Jon. Yet I know they want their music to go beyond what is
called "underground".

Possibly. I hope Necro does lace him. In terms of content from a white
kid Eminem doesn't hold a candle to Necro. I was floored hearing some of
his work. He, Slug, Eyedea and R.A. the Rugged Man should be out in the
main much more so.

What I did find there was Mosh... If that's what you meant.
Thanks.

Well I don't wanna go that far... we do have a good well rounded Hip-Hop
community over here, with all artists being respected mainstream or
underground as long as they are dope then we'll like them... with the
increased exposure Hip-Hop has been getting in recent years the 'scene' is
beginning to mirror the US one with loads of people walking round claiming
they listen to Hip-Hop coz they own a Usher CD and like 50 Cent when they
are in the club, people whineing on about 2Pac even though 90% of them never
knew who he was until he got shot and shit like that but I think the nature
of the UK Hip-Hop industry, ie very little major label support is helping
keep the 'scene' somewhat 'real'. The fact that people like Chuck D, KRS ONE
and Guru always give the UK artists and the whole UK Hip-Hop community props
when they are over here fills me with some sense of pride, if people like
that are feeling it then we must be doing something right! (I'm sure they
say the same shit wherever they go but still it's nice to hear artists I
genuinely respect say they have respect and knowledge of our Hip-Hop)

Co-sign I'm a bit wary of him getting a lot of exposure, I can do without
'coffee shop revolutionaires' and 'trendies' picking up on his stuff and
proclaiming to believe in his politics just coz some magazine said he was
good, then when his fashionable phase is over they forget what he said and
what they claimed to believe. The ray of hope I have though is if I look at
Public Enemy, they managed to get mainstream exposure and 'keep it real'...
yeah you had all the 'trendies' jumping on the bandwagon for a moment but I
think their impact still remains in a lot of people who they really touched
plus Chuck is still doing his thing and Flav... well he's still being
Flav... If Immortal Technique can be considered half as important as them
and manage to remain as determined and uncompromising then I'll be happy...
it's an attitude that'll be called 'elitist' but I don't care, in the grand
scheme of things one Immortal Technique record is more important than Lil
Jon's entire career...

Co-sign again although I do admit to liking Eminem, not the D12 stuff and
'the Eminem show' was pretty weak as well but I do see the talent he has and
I respect him for it... BUT I do like all the other emcees you mentioned
more than I like Em... Out of all of them I'm surprised Slug isn't blowing
up because he has appeal beyond the 'traditional' Hip-Hop audience, ie like
the indie rock audience, etc. Money and label politics I'm guessing is the
problem there though (when isn't it though? When talent is truely there they
tend to ignore it because artists aren't as easily manipulated as the
puppets they have supposedly representing Hip-Hop culture)...
yeah cats who only rhyme about killing people, rape and drugs with occasional
heavy metal references are much more profound content-wise than cats who rhyme
about obsessed fans, child abuse, spousal abuse, etc. Seriously eminem has
more content in stan than necros whole catalog. Dude is on some super ignorant
shit, though i like it and the beats are hot.
>R.A. the Rugged Man should be out in the
>main much more so.
what? Dude is a fucking joke. Im the biggest ra jocker in the world but dude
is not a dope emcee and comparing him to eminem is like comparing bizarre to
j-live straight up.
