According to K-Tel, there was actually a sub genre created called HipHouse.
I'll have to dig out the album...
---Pete---
There's lots of rap on early house records. Ron Hardy was no stranger to
rap... he played quite a bit of it. Most of the rap is sub-par though. White
Knight used to rap a lot - but its fairly awful, and the intstrumentals are the
only thing I like. Fast Eddie has some rap tracks... but I don't know which
ones. One of my favorites (and its on a mix in my room in the club) is "Heat
It Up" by Wee Papa Girls. The mix is by Master Reese (Kevin Saunderson.) He
also did a bang up remix of Samantha Fox's "I Wanna Have Some Fun."
Anyway, in my room in the 'PENCIL THIN MIX' track 11 'heat it up' is the track
I'm talking about.

That's KC Flight....
Hip-House might have worked with the more modern house sound. The raps are
hard to adapt to house beats though (or for that matter drum and bass)

I'm trying to remember the songs in question.
House tracks w/ Rakim? Kane? DOC?
Daddy Freddy? My mind draws a blank.
and the jungle brothers.

yes, he was. he had the world record for speed rapping and he is the
only hip hopper to do a gig in orpington. ever. well a PA. in order to
show his appreciation for this act of philanthropism, a 16 stone kid
from my school bonnet hopped his porsche and left 2 footprints on the
bonnet.
I thought we were talking about hip-house

We are. Name a DOC hip-house track.
And while you're at it, name a Rakim hip-house track.
Then add a Kane hip-house track.
You're probably going to expose my ignorance by
mentioning some 12" remix.
Or maybe you just have the wrong impression of
what hip-house is.
What'd I say?!?!?!? I meant KC Flight - I have 4 singles and an LP. I am old,
type badly and also tend to type at 4 in the morning before coffee.

Well you could say The House That Cee Built... but Kane isn't even on
it - its just samples... (and I quite like it)
you could also add..
Queen Latifah - Come Into My House
Monie Love - Grandpa's Party
anything by D-Mob
anything by Doug Lazy
anything by Mr Lee
PEACH
A to the L
"Dipset Dipset Dipset Dipset Dipset Dipset Dipset Dipset Dipset Dipset Dipset Dipset Dipset Dip...Set"

Hip-House -
Portrait of A Masterpiece and (arguably)
Whirlwind Pyramid
Pure House - Portrait of A Masterpiece (house remix)
>And while you're at it, name a Rakim hip-house track.
Let The Rhythm Hit Em (club rmx)
(also, EBAR had club remixes on practically ALL their singles, there are others
that would bear consideration, but I can't think right now

RAW???
The first time I heard the term, it was attached to RAW, iirc.

Didn't realize there was an official definition..
By your definition, maybe some of the above don't really make sense.
Here's a couple other "hip-house artists":
King Sun
Monie Love

I remember the DOC hip-house track too! It was quite good too. Yea, it
was a UK remix or something.

Also Fast Eddie was another hip-house artist, his stuff is hit or
miss.
jump, jump until you get tired . . .

Your defintion of house is fast tempos?
>Pure House - Portrait of A Masterpiece (house remix)
Haven't heard it.
Although I think I see the misunderstanding now.
In my definition, hip-house is rap vocals mixed with
house tracks.

Yeah, but 'club' isn't house, or is it? I can see a house
influence in a lot of late '80s pop/r&b/dancefloor, but to
me 'house' is something very specific (in the 80s timeframe)
It's got a swinging vibe, bleeps and swirls, 303 sounds, all
those typical house basses, organs, pianos, beats. Frankie
Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson, Farley Jackmaster Funk, etc.
>>Then add a Kane hip-house track.
>
>RAW???
A mixture, maybe. The influence is there. But the drum pattern
clearly isn't house, and having a house drum pattern to me
would be the key element of 'hip-house'.

Because of "On the Club Tip"? One track already makes
you a 'hip-house artist'? In my book, he's a hip-hop artist
experimenting with club sounds on maybe one or two songs.
I would call Doug Lazy a hip-house artist because he made
albums that were 90% house as far as the beats went.
