Through the rainwater? ;)
Seriously, a 5 per cent chance to survive 5 years... whew...
For us, it's water most of the time, or watered down apple juice (and
milk for the kids). Soft drinks are something our elder son gets like 3
times a year, on a massive "special occasion" type of thing. Not just to
keep his sugar highs under a lid, but also because we're too lazy to
haul those bottles home from the supermarket. Water's from the tap and
it's nearly free, it needs no hauling.

Colas are among the worst things you can put in your body, especially if
you are a woman. The phosphoric acid not only eats away at your tooth
enamel, but it displaces calcium from your bones. This causes (or
aggravates) osteoporosis. Women drink far more cola than men do
statistically and women are predisposed to osteoporosis but no one has
ever done a controlled study to see if colas contribute to the
astronommically high rates of osteoporosis we have in America versus
other countries.
The carmel color is a carcinogen and if you drink diet, aspartame has
been shown to be a neurotoxin in mice. And the jury is still out on
HFCS.

Of the assorted sodas available, Coke still has a distinct flavor that
I like. Clearly, however, the stuff isn't meant for daily
consumption.
tomatoes, pineapple, oranges, you know, da good stuff...
I drink a tons of diet pepsi daily. I need to keep my girlish figure
and Water is boring.
cancer does wonders for peoples figures... :-(
would miss me if i kicked the bucket?
I'll switch to wine...
wouldnt everybody??? :-)
And people wonder why Americans are fat...this message was NOT brought
to you by Pepsi.
I have a dear friend who goes through a 2-liter of Diet Coke every
day. I weep for his innards.
back in the seventies they had an experiment with this stuff called rc
cola... they put a nail in it and after a month it disappeared...
A fun test you can try at home if you have children: when one loses a
tooth, drop that tooth into a cup of coke and wait about 4 hours.
Yeah, and gee, pancreatic cancer sounds exciting, doesn't it?

I prety much have a can of Coke per day, maybe some extra's once in a
while if I get into the Vodka Cokes. But I think I flush it out pretty
good by drinking 2 to 3 litres of water per day and at least a litre
of milk/chocolate milk. I'm always in training to do a half marathon
or some kind of longer distance trail race. I enjoy having my Coke
every day and like miss49er said...water gets boring. The way I
figure...I could get hit by a bus tomorrow...I take care of myself for
the most part I don't think I'm being reckless enjoying some of the
spoils.

I probably drink 2, 2 litre bottles a day, sometimes more. I always
feel better when I drink water but that doesn't happen often. I'm an
addict. What can I say? I get a nasty headache when I haven't had a DC
for a few hours. A gulp of DC and away the headache goes. I'd drink
coffee instead but can't stand the stuff.
I'm doomed. :-(
Just my opinion but drinking milk is for calves. I haven't had a sip
of milk in years. Probably barf if I had one now.
people from the Brain Tumor mail list would have alot to say about the
Aspatame too...I don't agree but it's a real possibility =8-/
many will agree about that addiction...

come on man, get a pair... leave that shit alone... dont make me ask
mrs whopper for the bikes... :-)
i can only drink it with ice... i pretty much do soy milk 95% of the
time... now this one soy milk maker has omega 3 in it and milk is
pretty much a done deal...
Everyone to their own. For me there's nothing more refreashing than a
nice big ass ice cold chocolate milk when I'm done a long run.
My wife does the soy and rice milk stuff, and that shit makes me want
to yack my cookies right on the spot.

if it's just caffeine addiction, you could always switch to no-doz or
vivarin, or any number of equivalent generics.
Switch to iced tea and then phase out to water.
Every once in a while I have a sip (maybe about 1/12 of a 12 oz can of
Pepsi, at the very most), and it's more than enough of a sugar rush
for me. The most I cd possibly drink wd be half a can, but that's only
if I'm parched, sweating from a two hr hike or bicycle ride. Water
tastes particularly good when you're sweatin' bullets.
I am always amazed that people can drink a whole can of that stuff,
much less multiple cans or even a liter bottle (THAT seems insane to
me!). The VAT of chemicals in a Super Big Gulp is something I'll never
comprehend.
The diet colas? Horrid, chemical taste, with too much carbonation. I'd
go way out of my way to drink water instead.
Water tastes good to me. But I do like _one_ Germanically thick cup of
java in the morning, no cream or sugar.
I drink sun tea iced all the livelong day during the hot summers.
And then there are microbrewed double IPAs. But not until after 10PM.

What would a "Germanically thick cup" be? And then I'm not sure what
part of "java" you're referring to... Tea? Coffee? Java water??
> I drink sun tea iced all the livelong day during the hot summers.
Homemade tea is prolly best. (Cold in summer.) You know exactly what you
put in there, just the kind of tea or herbal mixture (or a fresh
peppermint twig!) you want, lime/lemon, sugar or not, whatever. And I
find that tea keeps me awake the longest, better than x number of
espressi or any caffeine soda.

There are varying qualities of soy milk, some taste too watery, others
too starchy, but they have one at my supermarket that's quite nice. But
we only buy it for our lactose-intolerant friends when they come over,
and then end up finishing it ourselves cos they didn't want any... ;)
Coffee, man. So thick you can stand a spoon up in that mutha. Trader
Joe's Bay Blend.
I have an espresso machine, but only use it when I have to get a
crapload of writing done on a deadline. Then I toss and turn all of
what I'll call "night," but it's really most people's commuter hours.
You're right about brewing your own sun tea: you can control the
caffeine, the amts of lemon or mint or whatever you want in there.
"Pekoe and pekoe cut black" it says on one box of tea here. Sounds
like some expensive heroin er something, eh? Naw: legal tea.
