BATTLE
LOGLINE:
A struggling producer dreams of winning a national beat battle
contest

This is a Hip-Hop film in the vein of “8 Mile”, “Hustle & Flow” and
even harkening back to the likes of “Beat Street”.

Going to bump this again :)
Any comments from the old RMHH folks who know me a tad?
-Martay
Holyshit!
Thanks for bumping this cos I missed it before.
You're behind this? Congratulations. I saw it linked on a rap blog and
was wondering about it. I hope you don't mind my saying this but I'm a
big fan of the "type" of movie this is. Not to say your film isn't
original but it's obviously a film outline that Hollywood understands
and can deal with. Most film types they can't. I can't tell you how
many times I've watched Drumline, and that shit is aimed at little
girls.
This looks well up my street, even if it does look a lot more
glamorous than any beat battle I've ever seen :-)
Is it set in Atlanta? Any fictionalised versions of people we'd know?
Looks like someone is doing alright for themselves huh? Old rmhh heads
will know how long you've been grinding. Well deserved. Hope it is
successful and if it gets released in the UK cinema then you can count
on my ticket. If we're both lucky I'll take a date.
Peace, bse.
bloody hell, I only saw this because beez commented about it on
twitter which went to my phone, which brought me back to rmhh to
investigate...
congratulations on this...

BSE,
Thanks. I appreciate the comments. Yes, of course it's a type of film
and we hope it's got originality to it too. So I don't mind the
comments.
We're pretty happy with how things are progressing in post right now
and yeah, it's a bit amped up from most Beat Battles we've been to. We
did a documentary on Beat Makers (called Beat Makers available on
iTunes :) ) and wrote this script based on the folks we got to know
in that doc. So the main character represents all Beat Makers and the
issues they have.
No specific folks that anyone else is modeled after but there's likely
traits you might equate with folks you know.
Definitely been putting in work for years...this one represents us
finally converging our film work with our hip-hop music work and we
hope y'all enjoy it.
We'll do our best to get it out in the UK, so I appreciate the
commitment (and here's to it being +1 as well).
Thanks again for checking it out,
Martay
A to the L,
Thanks for checking it. I was wondering why it had been uncommented on
for so long.
I appreciate it.
Stay tuned as we'll be releasing a mixtape in the coming weeks for
FREE!
-Martay
