Nobody saw this coming, NFL division

of the day, you, like me, like all the folks ragging on it during the
week, would have picked the Browns/Lions game, right? Who knew it was
gonna be maybe the best game of the day? Any given Sunday, indeed.
As for things not so hard to see coming, there's that Cutler
interception at the end of the game. Damn, does he look awful. They
coulda won that game by three touchdowns.
Back to things on the surprising side, sure, maybe he was gonna be
better than last year, but who the fuck saw Brett Favre being *this*
good. I sure as hell didn't. I keep waiting for the late season fade,
but it may be a long wait.

I was expecting a few things to come from this game . . . I was
expecting a HUGE day from Megatron/Stafford, as well as Cleveland
finally looking like an NFL offense (against Detroit's defense). While
I definitely wasn't predicting 400+ yds and 5TDs from Stafford, the
result of this game didn't surprise me at all. Monday morning QB to
the side . . . yes I had the over.

Favre is set up this year in almost a perfect situation. He's happy,
he's playing in an offense that is much more similar to what he played
with in GB as opposed to what he played in with the Jets last year.
His offense also has a great running game and a stud RB, great
weapons, and a decent line . . . while age is always a factor in the
NFL, its never as much of a factor at the QB position as it is in lets
say the RB position, so what Favre is doing this year while somewhat
surprising, really, imo isn't earth shattering surprising.
As an aside, count me as a Favre fan . . . he's got me rooting for his
success, I like the guy.

But yeah, McNabb looked like he was being very sincere and caring. I

McNabb was asked about that during the post-game press conference. He
said that NFL QBs are a fraternity, and he was telling Cutler to keep
working hard, stay optimistic, do your homework and everything will
work out.
I am so appalled by the Bears. They shoulda been contenders. Lovie
is NOT looking much like the head coach of the 2010 Bears at this
point. The offense sucking is one thing, the defense being anemic and
impotent is simply unacceptable to any native Chicagoan.

Why? Devin Hester is their #1 receiver for god's sakes... Their
defense is beat up, their OL isn't very good. And Cutler is playing
about as well as Rex Grossman at the "peak" of his career. I think
they're right about where you should expect them to be...

that he didn't think Jay had the necessities to be a quarterback in
the NFL.

Yeah, I imagine it was along those lines. Not surprising as a concept,
but it was the duration that I found significant. Whatever he was
going on about, it was certainly heartfelt, as it went way beyond the
norm. Say what ya want about the guy's abilities, but it is plain that
he does care about others in the frat. He's been something of a big
brother type to Vick, Young, and JaMarcus, and now this bit with
Cutler. Worm-killers aside, he's a class act.

There's that, sure, but, damn, that wasn't Lovie spraying the ball
everywhere but the spot it was supposed to be. Jay had four td balls
that he fucked up on, and from Collingsworth to Dungy, they were
beating him up for playing scared last night.

I don't know about this, Neil. They were getting pressure, and Tillman
ain't anemic at all. Dude had three punch out the ball plays in one
game, and Briggs ain't lunchin'. I think it's more injuries than lack
of pop.

Speaking of not seeing things coming, there was a great deal of talk
here about how the Giants major weakness was going to be the lack of a
big time WR . Most felt that the running game and the defense,
especially the DL, were good enough to overcome that weakness. As it
turns out, the WR position has been the team's biggest strength while
the defense, especially the DL, and the running game have been major
disappointments.

Well he did play against the Seahawks, you know. Lately that tends to

Ain't all that the truth. Goes to show you don't ever know. I thought
the Jints did really well yesterday, coming back like that, especially
with that weird stat about the away team being 8-0 or whatever it was
in that series.
