In addition to a having received a very kind gift from Kate's brother John
Carder Bush, I recently opened my mailbox to find a card from Kate with a
very friendly note and an autographed photo that said "To Thomas with lots
of love Kate Bush xx"
The note in the card reads:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Thomas-
Please forgive me for not writing sooner.....!
Thank you so much for your "tribute" album - I think it is absolutely
wonderful - I am so flattered to hear such different + interesting versions
of my songs + I am moved by your sweetness.
I send you a hug + a big kiss
with love
Kate Bush
BUT, my favorite thing of all...on the envelope that the card and photo
were in, on the flap, she wrote in very small letters - I WANNA BE THOMAS
That did it, I pretty much burst into tears at that point. It was
wonderful to have the whole project of I WANNA BE KATE: The Songs of Kate
Bush, come around full circle after 2 & 1/2 years. So while I'm here,
thanks again to all the love-hounds who have supported the CD. I truly
appreciate it.
Thomas
Would you perhaps be willing to scan said items and post the pix somewhere?
I (and I'm sure others of us lurking about these parts) would love to see
them.
Congratulations on a job well done - that's about the ultimate compliment!
I guess we all "wanna be Thomas", well I would especially receiving such
a great retort from someone I admire (musically) so much. But I think
someone who is great with words in lyrics, ought to be great with words
in normal day-to-day use - unlike me!
I hope you don't mind, but I think I'd rather not. They're a bit personal,
ya know? I wasn't sure about posting what the note in the card said
because I didn't know if that was completley tacky. I just thought that if
I tried to write "she said thanks and it was wonderful" that it might seem
as if I was hiding something and possibly implying that it was more
personal or longer or more detailed than it was. You know? So that's why
I posted the text of the note...I hope SHE doesn't mind. Thanks for
understanding.
Thomas
