Here's a Google Maps travelogue photo-mashup I made from some
photographs from a trip to London a few months back. Of particular note
to Kate Bush fans in the statue of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens. I
made a special trip to Kensington Gardens just to see it and it took me
hours to locate as it's a rather large park!

How funny... When I and my girlfriend was in London in 2000,
we stumbled on it by accident. We were on our way from the hotel
by the church at Lancaster Gate, down through Kensington Garden
to the Science Museum. That's when and where we got engaged.

All that culture, and the TARDIS?

Fantastic.

Who cast the enchantment? Kate or Peter?

Perhaps I should clarify: We got engaged at the Science Museum.
Though we did linger a while at the Peter Pan statue a while,
contemplating romance, magic, and Kate.

As we walked on the statue, halfway between the statue and the
museum, we stumbled on an Italian gentleman.
He told us he had managed to loose his wallet and couldn't fill
up his car for his ride back to Italy. (I noticed his car was
running on empty with a side glance at the dashboard, so he really
did need to fill it).
He promised he would send money back once he got home again.
This sounds like a classic scam to you, and I myself fully expected
the candid camera crew lurking somewhere.

Anyhow, I was in an exeptionally good mood, feeling generous,
and gave the man all the cash I had, which wasn't more than £35.
The Italian man said "Ah, you're a generous man ready to help
some one total stranger. You see, I work in fashion business,
here to sell new collection. My factory manufacture for Valentino.
Here, these two jackets are my gift to you for being so generous.
But please make promise: these jackets cost £1700 you must not
sell these jackets, they are gift to you."
He took two suede jackets from the back seat of the car, stuffed it
in a bag and gave it to us. He thanked us again for the cash and
took off.

We stood there, trying to get a grip on what had just happened.
Took another look at the jackets in the bag. They really looked
nice, and expensive. So we turned and walked straight back to the
hotel to deposit the bag in our room before getting on with business.
Having gotten tired of walking, we took the sub to the Science Museum
instead. Walked around a bit watching cool stuff before finally
exchanged rings.

Wow, that's an unusual story! Every time I've given $20 to someone for
gas with the promise that they would send me a check, I've never seen
that $20 again. If only all such *acts* of
kindness^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hstupidity were repaid with stolen clothing!

Ooops, am I being too cynical?

I think so.
He told us that our jackets were part of a new collection that
was yet to be released for a few months. We tried to find this
specific collection in the stores, but we turned out empty.
Also, if he could afford a BMW 750 he'd be an unusual shoplifter.
