"I was irritated by the adulation given Laurie Anderson, with her cutesy postmodernist game playing, and I often protested that, as a performance artist, Kate Bush had infinitely more depth and vision."

Well I'd buy "exponentially". But certainly not "infinitely".
Her response reads a lot like "Dude! I've been saying for years that Black Sabbath is infinitely more awesome than Metallica."
It's clear she doesn't like Laurie Anderson, but juxtapose L.A. to Kate? It's apples and oranges. I appreciate them both.
And the use of the word "had". Neither one of them is dead.
However I can empathize with Camille a bit; being somewhat irritated by the adulation given Camille Paglia.

Oh and btw where can I get a job complaining all day for a living? :-D

I have met Laurie Anderson and she is a genuinely nice person whose stage persona is not how she is in real life. Having never met Kate I wonder how much of what we see of her in interviews and hear on record reflects what she's like when you stop by the house to drop off a pizza.

Frank Zappa used to say that the Frank Zappa he portrayed to the public was NOT the Frank Zappa his family knew, nor should it be.

Makes me wonder if Camille Paglia can really make a comparison like that. If we're seeing STAGE KATE, then she can only compare that to stage Laurie, and both would be false representations of the real people behind them. Comparable, I guess, but why bother?

I've always been irritated by Camille Paglia - and not just by the
adulation; I've been irritated by her very being.

She makes my teeth itch.

Well, if your goal is to just get paid to complain - try calling your
company's help desk; they'll take complaints about almost anything and
you'd be getting paid if you call on the clock.
