Spoiler warning, if you haven't seen Firefly yet, don't proceed, and
for heaven's sake, go watch on Hulu, they have it for free and in the
correct order.

Okey dokey, this should be far enough.

Train Job
Lyrics: Karen Rodgers
Music: Streets of Laredo variant

As I walked out through the streets of Paradiso
As I walked out after robbin' a train
I looked all around me, and saw those folk sufferin'
Needin' the medicine I'd stolen away

I'd taken a job with a bad man named Niska
He hired my crew for to go rob a train
If I had known then what I would learn later
Right then and there I'd've turned him down plain

But my crew took that medicine right out of the frieght car
Found out in town what we really had took
Medicine needed to treat Bodin's sickness
You get it by livin' there, and that left me shook

To hell with Niska and his dirty money
We gave back the meds, then we went on our way
I may be a thief, but I've got a clear concience
I can look in the mirror at the end of the day

This then now travelers is the end of my story
I ain't got no moral at the end of this tale
But I won't take from folks who have got less than nothin'
In this goram 'verse some things just aren't for sale

That's it. What do you think?

Thanks,

Karen R.

I hope I got Malcolm's voice written correctly. This thing got stuck
in my brain after introducing my Dad to Firefly. It hit me that
"Streets of Larado" would survive, and like all folk songs, be reused,
again, and again, and again...

Thanks Sandy.

It sounded right to me. You might change "aren't" in the last line to
"ain't." Other than that, it's dead on.
