Lee and Barry arrived at the Carrows Dinner. I was there with Heather.
Linda and Fiona went to a movie.
Talking with them was fun, but with only them showing up, next time I
might like to skip the dinner and start the filk at 6pm.
Pat, Friend, and John showed up.
The fillk was greatly enhanced by the arrival of the San Diego group.
Blars arrived.
We had a good time, but it broke up around midnight. I was trying to
pick songs that might entertain Pat's friend, and did not know what
she liked.
I talked with Linda, my wife, and ended driving John back to his house
about 1:10 am, getting to sleep about 2 am,
getting up for work at 4:30 am, Working 12 hrs.

Being as there is absolutely NO mention of a dinner in the announcement
of your house filk,(I just rechecked it) how would anyone have known
there was one or where to go for it? Darlin' we can't read minds.

Please clearly notify us of your decision on this when you schedule your
next LAFA filk.

"Friend" = Gay Lynn (or something pronounced like that).

No. Not the San Diego group.
The Tyras live in Lancaster, north of LA.
Karen Rodgers of San Diego was with them because she's been doing some
recording sessions, I think.

She liked being shy, as far as I can tell.

We also did some poetry now and then.
And there were a number of scary &/or ghost/skeelton pieces in honor of
Halloween next week.

We plan to be at the LASFS 75th Anniversary gathering at the Clubhouse
on Tuesday, where Barry will sing a few filksongs.

And oh yes, we announced at the filksing that the 2010 ConChord will be
merged with Westercon (in Pasadena). More details once Nick Smith
approves the webpage. People will have to pay Westercon membership
rates, but the convention will definitely be bigger and longer than the
average ConChord, with a bigger dealers room (thoughw we've beenp
romised a number of tables for filk dealers).
http://www.westercon63.org/
Seanan McGuire will be ConChord's GoH.

Right. It was in the printed flyer but Barry didn't include it in the
emailed flyer. I asked him to send out with the dinner announcement
added, and he opted not to, in the belief that Sean had asked him to
omit it. Later Sean phoned us, and said he'd sit around at Carrows and
see if anyone showed up. I repeated this to Barry and he still didn't
send out a last-minute announcement.

Would you settle for a Virtual Grovel from Barry, or would you like the
Real Thing in November?

Hmmn. Well. I like ConChord. I like Westercon. And Pasadena is not
that far from Phoenix. Sounds like a winner.

Crud, sorry.
So Maybe next time we will meet at Carrows and proceed, usually early
(6:30 has ben usual), to the filk.

No grovel necessary - just let folks know when a dinner is planned. We
might have showed up (but time considerations might have prevented us,
so maybe not.) I'm just thinking that Sean doesn't need to stop planing
on pre-filk dinners, people will show if they know.

PLEASE specify the time for the pre-filk dinner before your next filk so
we can make sure to have it correct in the printed flyers, the email
flyers, and the website.

I printed the printed flyers for Sean's filk, and _they_ said a dinner
was planned. (I print the flyers. Barry emails them.)

Barry has his own computer and his own flyer database and his own point
of view. See above for details. I asked him to send out the flyer with
the dinner announcement once again on Saturday morning, and he chose not
to do so, and didn't tell me about his decision.

*Barry*, I hope you'll comment on this from your point of view.

And I hope *Sean* will tell us if he planed a dinner for the 10-24-09
filk or not.

My most humble apologies. I had a previous version of the flyer on my
disk, which I sent out by mistake. For some reason, that year we had
no pre-filk dinner. Sorry for sending out the wrong version.
