Would anyone be interested in setting this to music? or is it just too
long? The notes say the first 4 stanzas were published together as a
published poem.

Well, it's simple ballad scansion; I could immediately fit it to several
tunes, major and minor, that aren't original but that I can't remember
the source of. (And to several annoying things which I'm not going to
mention for fear of earworming people.)

Coming up with an _interesting_ tune is another matter.

Length... It might indeed benefit from editing. How to edit depends on
what aspects of the story you consider most important. It isn't quite
grabbing me enough for me to start making those decisions.

Thanks for considering it. It was nice enough to get my attention, but
not one to work on it.
