_Lock & Load_, Leslie Fish's 2nd Amendment/politics album already over
a decade in the making, has finally, today, hit our living room. It
will be debuted at WesterCon (FiestaCon, Tempe, AZ) this next weekend.
Orders will not be taken (mail, dealers, et al) until the 8th (after
we get back from the con road trip). Dealer orders will be at the
usual wholesale.

Price is the usual $16, plus CA sales tax as applicable.

New: For the first time, we're using a cardboard wallet instead of
jewel cases (less breakage). Also for the first time, there is a
poster enclosed with ALL the lyrics to all the songs (as sung).

Thanks to all the performers and writers--and HUGE thanks go to all
you patient folks who have been waiting years for this. We hope you
find it a worthy 13th addition to the Random Factors titles.

This IS an official announcement from Random Factors.

Sincerely,

Mary Creasey
Artistic Director/Partner
Random Factors

I was looking for a web site to understand and maybe fix, so to move

I could help?

I see two redirects -- the first is just a flash, then
www.random-factors.com/ shows up, then after a long pause, the
myspace.com page. I agree about the redirect timing -- the wait
shouldn't be that long.

It worked for me (using Firefox 3.5) withut redirecting to anywhere)
Then I tried IE and got a "The page cannot be found."
What browser were you using, Gary?

But even so all you get with the Firefox is a page saying "Our site is
currently under a complete reconstruction."

JOHN & MARY, if you wish, Barry can set you up a Joomla! website that
works and that you can easily modify without having to know html.
Nick Smith might be willing to let you use the ConChord website, which
has a huge amount of unused space (and cost about $50 a year at
HostColor).

I have been using http://www.cwahi.net/ no bandwidth nor size
restrictions. Free, no huge banners, no popups. I volunteer there.
Some blogs are supported, like Nucleus. Any blog that 'calls home to
the home blog for updates' is blocked due to php concerns. Wordpress
and drupal have problems. I think someone has installed Joomla there.

John & Mary don't know how to do stuff in html.
Will cwahi let them use Joomla or some other free software for
non-programmers so they don't need to keep interacting with a webmaster
who may be too busy to do stuff for them?

This sites redirects me back to the non-working webspace
and doesn't list an inventory of stuff for sale.

I think they need a website they can manage in their own spare time,
that doesn't require software skills they don't have or the time of
someone who might be too busy to help them.

FWIW I've just changed the link for Random Factors on the FAQ to the
MySpace site and will leave it there until there's a real website again.
John and Mary, if you're reading this, I'd recommend taking Barry's
offer is possible - see the current LASFS website for an example of
something he's done recently.

I've had pretty good luck with Hare Link (though it's not free), however
since I pretty much stick to basic HTML (using Homesite, which doesn't
generate bloat since it's basically a text editor with a lot of special
features) I don't know how they interact with the other stuff. For
that matter, I've got 5 Gig available, of which I'm using 124 Meg or so
at the moment.

Thanks for the link - I wasn't familiar with it. I heartily agree with
the idea. I've now got one of their buttons (slightly modified to
include a reference to Firefox along with all the other stuff) on my
index page.

There is no fantastico interface, so they would have to hand install
any blogs. Fantastico interfaces auto install things like blogs.

They can use what ever blog or cms software they want to. Joomla 1.5.7
has been installed there on one person's account.

Things like the Wordpress auto-update wont work.

As for html, I find it rather easy. I learned by reading the tutorials
at: http://www.htmlgoodies.com/ Yup, I do it with a text editor.

Got the same page, both with Firefox 3.5 and I.E. 8. As you describe
it, Lee.

I did a search, found a dead site or link, and concluded that the
whole thing was still down.
If it had not been know to be down, I might have pushed farther.
Glad that i was wrong.
